Some of these post about “annoying genderfuck fagdykes” are getting real close to just repacked “dumb transtrenders” shit … like yeah I think there should be a conversation about how some people try to hide behind the fact they are trans/have a complex identity to say to say they can never be misogynistic/transmisogynistic … but sometimes these posts are just “wow these dumb women transtrenders are such posers!! lol can��t believe they think they are really trans!! They are just attention seekers!”

I know I'm 55-and-some-change years late to this party but The Left Hand of Darkness is a really good book. Just a fascinating work of art. I'm not an avid sci-fi reader because I'm generally not impressed by it but that one was really something.

This is some spoilers for Night of the Mannequins so if you were planning on reading that I guess keep scrolling, but I was having more thoughts about this:

Sawyer also does a lot of catastrophizing that’s very OCD-like; specifically I’m thinking about him pinning Tim to the wall like a bug because his overall thought process is that the kind of grief caused be being family to a murder victim is the kind that will bring people together. Whereas the grief from being family to someone who committed suicide will cause them to start having affairs and lead total destruction of the family. Which is like a forward acting guilt.

He spends the whole time so singularly focused on minimizing suffering but also very sure that this is what has to happen and he is in ANGUISH about it.

Very curious what you meant with that stephen graham jones writes for people with OCD post I genuinely can't figure it out. I read some of his stuff but I can't seem to draw out any conclusion on what that post means

I made that post in the wake of reading, in quick succession, The Long Trial of Nolan Dugatti, Night of the Mannequins, Thirteen, and Brushdogs. That’s not my only familiarity with his work, but it is what spawned the post. His narrators are totally wracked with OCD, almost all of them. Rituals, magical thinking, wide-scale anxiety that tips into delusion.

Mr. Dugatti trying to kill himself as payment for the allowance of a few more good years with Nolan, Sawyer needing the movie to be on every time he killed one of them (not to mention the piecing together totally arbitrary information to convince himself the mannequin is 1. giant and 2. coming for him), Junior bringing Denny to the woods to exactly retrace the day’s events to undo what happened.

As someone who has OCD, it was one of those things where I was immediately like, oh, I see what’s going on here.
