TLDR: I learned recently that I’m still being stalked online by someone who used to be a close friend. They decided to end the friendship earlier this year, and have been monitoring my online presence closely since. I have tried everything I could think of to prevent them from having access to this blog, but it hasn’t worked. I might make a new tumblr, I might not. I might swap platforms altogether. I don’t know yet. But I won’t be announcing where I’m going publicly or when. You are welcome to message this blog (off of anon) to ask where to find me in the future. I’m really sorry for all the inconvenience. I’m hoping this puts an end to it.

This varies based off whether you want a full body, ¾’s body, half-body, bust, headshot… and that’s just concerning the size of the drawing. What style you want it in affects the time it will take too! This means a slightly more complex pricing system, BUT–it also means you get the cheapest possible rates. No new content Sept 1 2017, in protest of Tumblr @staff‘s complete lack of effort to take any action to control rampant white-supremacist hate speech on this platform.

If GoDaddy and Google, Discord, and even OKCupid  (and even Facebook and GoFundMe) can take steps to curb hate, why can’t Tumblr? (Users have been complaining for years, it’s not like this is a new problem.) Tumblr consistently refuses to enforce its own no-hate-speech policy in this matter.

(There’s even a lovely write-up of it from this very month: Nazis On Tumblr Are Attempting To Make White Supremacy Hip.) (There’s a change.org petition about it too, which has a nice write-up of exactly how much absolutely-nothing Tumblr @staff are willing to do about egregious hate speech.) (No, I’m not involved with either of those links, nor the original post I’m referecing above, I just thought I’d Google it before I made a graphic. I know very little about this but it all seems pretty gross, now doesn’t it.)

I’m posting this now, then I’ll put it in my queue on the 1st and have that be the only thing that posts on that day (for those of us who can’t shut our queues down easily, that’s a solution). And then, no posts, no replies, no chats, no inbox, no messages, no visits to the site for the duration of the 1st in my timezone.

if you see someone active on social media or something, and you message them, and they don’t reply, they don’t have to. just because they are awake and alive does not mean they have to engage with you whenever you want them to. you are not entitled to someone else’s time. 

in the past, an abuser would see me post online and then hound me on aim until i answered. i felt like i had to hide. they also lived in my building and would pound on my door if they saw me online and i wasn’t responding to them. i had to completely ditch a screenname, lie about having skype, and turn off my phone to hide. if i saw they were online i couldn’t post on facebook or interact with anyone without them demanding to interact with me. the only legitimate excuse not to talk to them was being asleep. in their eyes, if i were really their friend, i would always want to engage no matter what, even if i had a migraine or work to do or wasn’t feeling very social. it didn’t matter. 

please do not do this. if someone doesn’t write you back, don’t guilt them about where they are or what they’re doing. if you see someone posting on tumblr or facebook and they aren’t signed into aim or google or skype or whatever, that’s their business. if they are signed on but don’t write you back, it’s okay. sometimes people can’t talk to everyone all the time every time. some people can only talk to one person at a time without getting overloaded. some people are signed on in case someone needs to contact them with something important and not to be social. they’re not always hiding from you, and you shouldn’t make them feel like they HAVE to hide from you.

this is probably jumbled and i’m probably missing a lot here, but pressuring people to always be available to you every hour of the day and always answer the phone or text or chat or pm or whatever…if you require that of someone, you might need to take a step back.

LEYLSES IS ON PATREON

I know most of y’all follow me on here for my video game fanart, but the fact is that I really, really want to create original art. The other fact is that I have two jobs, a lot of additional responsibilities, and zero time.

And then I remembered that Patreon exists. 

I set up tiers at $1, $5, and $10 while I try to get it off the ground. Each month I will try to produce something along the lines of: 

An 8-10 page annotated sketchbook .pdf full of a selection of any studies that I’ve been up to that month!

A mini-tutorial or expansion based on the studies I completed!

Some sort of finished piece, whether a character sheet, background painting, or design doc!

Something in regards to my process on the finished piece, such as a timelapse video or exploratory sketches.

Now, I know money is tight for a lot of people, but shares are also worth their weight in gold to me. Once I get up to my goal of $350/month, I can quit my retail job and expand what I do on here, and also over on Patreon, over to 2D/3D animation, more research, more design, etc etc etc. It’s something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time, and there’s no time like the present.

Hahaha, naaaah the anon wasn’t the reason. @nebulaad has just moved on to bigger and better stuff. You should read all their works tho, tbh. Every time I get a chance to read snippets it literally is the highlight of my fuckin day.

what ever happened with that whole saevin and cha'cer drama

Oh man. You have no idea how much it delights me that you sent this. @nebulaad look!! 

Ok so, once upon a time long ago, Nebulaad over there had an idea for a fic and decided to include my Lavellan as a character. I was in on this. We were talking and planning it over google hangouts. I was heavily involved in figuring out Cha’cer’s role and was whole heartedly in favor of Cha’cer and Solas breaking the fuck up. It wasn’t a healthy relationship and Cha’cer fit waaaaay better with Sera. So a huge plot point of Nebulaad’s fic showed Solas (as a young Fen’harel) ditching his young, wild, recklessness and realizing that he was involved in something Big. Basically recognizing that he could no longer treat the movement like his merry squad of misfits and had to step up to the plate etc etc. Cha’cer was his second in command, and lead a special hit squad (containing many of Nebulaad’s and my characters). She’s a people person. Not a leadery person. So it made sense that this was where their paths would split. And they remained best friends!! Anywho, tldr none of this was a surprise to me. In fact I was all in favor of it. (Cha’cer and Sera’s romance arc was adorable.)Despite all this, there was an anon that was FURIOUS on Cha’cer’s behalf that Solas would ever consider Saevin over Cha’cer. They insisted that Cha’cer and Saevin not getting along was due to jealousy and that one of them needed to be a Clear Victor (re: claiming solas. they weren’t pleased about cha’cer and solas remaining friends). And basically sent both Nebulaad and I both some truly awe inspiring asks expressing their surprisingly strong feelings on the matter. 

They famously called Saevin a “raisin with hair” and that nickname has stuck. It’s amazing.

So to answer your question, there was never any drama HAHA. Nebulaad and I were equally baffled by this response tho kind of flattered to get such a strong reaction. Y’know it’s like. You know you’ve made something big when you get haters, right? HAHAHA. Anyway, Cha’cer and Saevin have a unique relationship that has very little to do with Solas, and have both moved on to healthy relationships that fit them better. I ended up exploring that later in a fic that was sort of inspired by the whole mess, so I guess it ended up being a good thing??? 

(For what it’s worth, Cha’cer and Sera get married and adopt a bunch of kids. And I believe Saevin has since dumped Solas for Abelas. Both Cha’cer and Saevin finally found common ground in ‘wanting to pummel the shit out of that stupid bald idiot’ post-trespasser.)
