the thing about the mummy movies is that you really spend most of the time thinking "wow brendan fraser's character is so cool" or "man oded fehr is so mysterious and heroic" when the fact of the matter is that these two

are the absolute most batshit insane heroes in the entire franchise

these two are intellectual loner siblings with archeology backgrounds who read and speak ancient egyptian, hire a dude directly out of prison to take them to a lost city of gold, and fight mummies literally with their bare hands. twice.

no one in these movies stands a chance against the carnahans. frankly they're lethal in how willing they are to make the absolute and most undeniably deranged decisions. jonathan pickpockets a dude on fire. evy's resurrected from the dead and immediately remembers how to use sai. they're racking shotguns from a cliff in this scene and then proceed to blow away half the antagonists.

Quick tips for writing arguments

⋆˙⟡ the “are we actually doing this?” pause where both of them realize, mid-sentence, that this is about to get ugly

⋆˙⟡ cutting each other off, not because they’re rude, but because they’re terrified of what the other will say next

⋆˙⟡ one character’s voice going way quieter instead of louder...scary ughh.

⋆˙⟡ pacing. or standing so still it’s unnatural

⋆˙⟡ someone saying the other’s name like it’s a warning shot

⋆˙⟡ hands clenching into fists… or clenching nothing because they don’t know where to put all that fury

⋆˙⟡ the “oh crap I went too far” moment after blurting something that can’t be unsaid

⋆˙⟡ insults that only hurt because they’re true

⋆˙⟡ a laugh that’s definitely not funny, the kind that says I can’t believe you just said that

⋆˙⟡ them talking over each other, dialogue tripping and tumbling until one of them snaps STOP

⋆˙⟡ the awful, ringing silence after it’s over, where they’re both just breathing hard and trying not to look at each other

Found with the rest of the hoard, the handaxe pictured above was probably found either while digging his own hole for the treasure or maybe earlier in a precious bout of hoarding by some Romano-Briton who thought it was cool enough to bury along with all of his coins and Juliane's bracelet, because cool rock.
