to me post canon sam is like. always waiting for the other shoe to drop. constantly on the look out. hyper vigilance. sleeps with a gun under his pillow. can’t get hard 4/5 times much to his wife’s displeasure. has a hard time being intimate. loves his son so so much. can’t ever love him enough. cringes everytime he says “dean” so he just calls his son DJ (short for dean jr). his wife suggests he picks up a hobby but his hands have only ever been used to break and punch and fight so he can’t imagine them doing pottery or cooking or writing. things will be going good for a while and he’s smiling and he turns around to say something to dean but deans not there and he hasn’t been there for a while and the grief hits him all at once and it’s like he lost dean all over again. he carries all this grief around. for bobby for charlie for jo for ellen for john for dean dean dean dean and he has no where to put all that grief and trauma. he can’t talk abt what he’s seen to his non-Hunter wife. he tells half truths to his therapist. dads job made it so we were always on the road (true) he was a mechanic (lie) I did a lot of combat (true) yea I was in the army (lie) I was okay though, because I had dean (true) he was my brother (half-truth) he spends hours just sitting in the impala, gripping the samulet so tight in his fist it bleeds. he stares at the handgun he keeps in his bedside drawer and wishes he was brave enough to kill himself.
