Luckily the doctor was close enough to his daughter to hear her statement. “True, he does tend to escape most of my traps.” More like all of them. “But I won’t lie it’s really fun coming up with them! Guess that’s kinda the reason why I keep making them.”

Heinz gives a shrug before putting the finishing touches to his latest trap and moving towards the kitchen. “Want any chocolate chips on your pancakes? I know I do!” 

“That’s the understatement of the year.” Vanessa crossed her arms over her chest resisting the urge to roll her eyes. “Well, at least it keeps you busy. Even though if you applied yourself you’d probably find a more productive use of your time. But hey, what do I know? I’m just a teenager, right?” Vanessa spoke, her words dry clearly unhappy about never being taken seriously by either of her parents. 

Watching her dad move to the kitchen, Vanessa followed somewhat closely. “Yeah, chocolate chips are good.” She nodded before looking over her father skeptically. “So, what’s the occasion? Kinda feels like you’re too busy with your ‘job’ to ever give me the time of day, let alone make pancakes. What gives?”

“Uh, sure I guess,” Vanessa closed her eyes momentarily, still a bit tired from just having woken up. “Though I don’t see why you even bother with the trap. He’s just gonna get out like he always does.” She murmured just loud enough to be heard.

              He pouted a little as she addressed him. Typical - and much appreciated. She could always lighten her spirits. Ferb raised his eyebrow. It really was that bad - ❛ MY PARENTS KNOW I’M HERE — MY SISTER HAS F O R B I D D E N IT. ❜ Ferb knew Candace was trying to protect him - but he didn’t need protecting from Vanessa - ❛ It’s ridiculous - also my mum says hi and hopes your mum is well. ❜

“Forbidden it?” Vanessa cracked a small smile, stifling a small laugh. “Really? She has the power to do that?” She raised her eyebrows slightly before shaking her head, looking back down at Ferb. “Yeah, ridiculous is one word for it.” Vanessa mumbled trying to not think too much about it. “And you can tell your mum,” Vanessa smirked, mimicking his accent on that one word, “That my mom is fine. As far as I know, anyways.”

     wall•e slowly peaked his head out of his box, looking up at the girl in front of him. she had startled him — coming out of nowhere like she had.

     “ w a a a l l •e e e ” the robot pointed to himself, answering to the best of his abilities once he decided the girl to be friendly. “ y o u ? ” he asked back, pointing to her.

Towering over him just slightly, Vanessa tried to figure out exactly what his deal was. “What exactly is a waaaallleee?” She mimicked his voice. “Are you like, some sort of robot or something?” As he pointed towards her, Vanessa shrugged slightly, placing her hands on her hips. “I’m Vanessa. Or a human if you wanna get into species.”

“Calm down, honey.” Charlene couldn’t stop the impulse to roll her eyes. “Your father called and asked if you’ve seen his toothbrush. Why he thinks you might know it’s whereabouts I have no idea.”

“Maybe because he’s delusional?” Vanessa spoke, though her voice was more of a murmur than anything else. “I don’t know what to tell you. I care about as much as you do. Maybe Perry tried hiding it to distract dad from whatever weird evil scheme he’s trying today. I don’t know. Can’t he just get a new one?”
