If you believe your relationship is half you and half him or her, and you will meet your partner half way, this means you will only do if she or he only does. Things are now contingent. You will be standing behind a line. This is not a relationship. This is a negotiation. A silent one.
.
Relationships are 110/110. Each person gives all plus a little more. Not for the other person. For him or herself because their definition in being in something means to give as much as they can plus + pushing through some personal discomfort = the extra 10 percent. for some maybe more. Usually more. Without the discomfort, working on your own shit, leaning into your resistance, you are not giving 110. You give 110 not only because relationships are hard AF and they take that but because that’s your standard. Because that’s what loving someone looks like to you. Because that’s how you want to be loved back.
.
What does 110 look like for you and why aren’t you giving it? I haven’t always given 110. I’ve given 80. I’ve given 60. I’ve even given 100. Because 110 not only takes courage but also tools. You have to be at a certain place in your life, gone through some shit, and on a path of self betterment. But imagine if two people were giving 110. No relationship is perfect but imagine the legs on that. If you’re thinking, yeah but what if my partner isn’t giving ME 110? Then please read again and ask yourself if you want a negotiation or a relationship.
