Skulls in Death Witchcraft
I want to correct a statement I made on my blog earlier. I don’t remember when I made it, but I’m positive that I did. I said that skulls work simply as other bones and connecting to death energy in death witchcraft and necromancy, which is blatantly not true. I’m sorry about that. Please allow me to correct this by sharing what I’ve learned about some uses of skulls in death magic:
A skull may house a conjured ghost, and allow that spirit to speak through the body of the skull. Some sources will offer incense upon the skull to help this take effect.
Related to the first point, a sealing spell may be cast upon the skull to prevent it from lying or deceiving. This spell involves sealing the mouth with graveyard dirt and drawing an engraving on it with iron.
Skulls may be used to dispel or scare off ghosts. A libation poured from the skull of a black dog is used in one such banishing ritual.
Many rituals include using a skull to prevent one from grinding their teeth during sleep. Some believed that this happened because a dead family member tried to communicate through their relative in sleep. The sufferer may either kiss it seven and seven times, or kiss it seven times and lick it seven times, over the span of four nights.
Skulls are used as summoning ingredients and basis for the conjurer’s power. Sometimes, an incantation will be spoken over a skull. Other times, a libation or conjuring oil will be spilt over the skull.
The vague “skull” is used in most of these spells, implying that any skull may work. Few specify which skull is needed.
Thanks for coming to my TED talk

Death Witch Tip
my favorite offering for the dead is lemon poppy seed baked goods.
poppy seeds = sleep and peace, to give them rest
lemon = healing and purification, to bring them peace and allow me to leave gently without being followed.

death witch self-care tips 🖤
- keeping obsidian, a small skull amulet, a pendulum, or smokey quartz with you to squeeze when a confidence boost is needed
- gently reminding yourself to really live in the moment, as our time here is so short
- burning a black candle when you feel the need to “power up” your energies
- beginning each day with a positive reminder: “i shall continue to make my strongest mark on the world, to the best of my abilities, during my period on this Earth"
 - taking a “spirit bath” filled with salt + a black bath bomb, cleansing yourself of negative energies

Note
hi, trick or treat? :)
Treat!
Tumblr media
Graveyard Ingredients that aren’t dirt:
Leaves
Twigs/sticks/bark
Pincones
Stones/rocks (NEVER take from near or atop a headstone- those are offerings!)
Snow
Energy: you can collect it in many ways, I personally like to tie it up into knots for later use
Seeds, nuts, etc from trees
“Weeds”- Wild dandelions and yarrow from a graveyard are especially potent.
Grass clippings/cuttings
Wildflowers
The standard respect, offerings, and inquiry of whether the spirits of the graveyard are okay with you taking these items still apply! They’re just less tricky to obtain than dirt and still potent in spellwork!

seven deadly sins: wrath
wrath can be defined as uncontrolled feelings of anger, rage, and even hatred. wrath often reveals itself in the wish to seek vengeance. in its purest form, wrath presents with injury, violence, and hate that may provoke feuds that can go on for centuries. wrath may persist long after the person who did another a grievous wrong is dead. feelings of wrath can manifest in different ways, including impatience, hateful misanthropy, or revenge.
according to the catechism of the catholic church, the neutral act of anger becomes the sin of wrath when it is directed against an innocent person, when it is unduly strong or long-lasting, or when it desires excessive punishment.

Lilith’s Strength
A spell to call upon Lilith and keep her strength close to you so you may be empowered in whatever situation you face.
Things needed:
Lilith’s Sigil (see below)
A Red Candle
A Drop of Your Blood (optional)
Tumblr media
Ritual:
At night, light your red candle and craft the sigil of Lilith on paper, using a red utensil. If you choose to use your blood, use just a little drop and let it drip onto the sigil. Then begin to chant the following:
“Lilith, goddess of passion, Queen of Hell, grant me the strength of your flaming heart. Soothing and destructive, annihilate my pain and help me heal. Annihilate my cowardice, open my heart and my eyes. Grant me the confidence to fight onward, and the love needed to care for myself. Come to me Lilith, Divine Mother. Fill me with everlasting fire.”
Hold up Lilith’s sigil and kiss it gently. It is now ready to be worn or carried with you so you may always be near the energy of Lilith, knowing her strength and your own.

The Magical Girl Guide to: Death Witchcraft
Tumblr media
Death is a daunting and controversial topic in society.
Sure a lot of our generation may joke about death lightly in various memes or ‘lol someone just kill me, I wanna die from this failure I committed’, but when actually confronted with death, some people start singing a different tune. We’ve all been affected by it some way or another, whether it be the death of a friend, family member, beloved pet, or an idol you adored. Reactions and how we are, in turn, affected by said death is variable.
Some take it better than others, others reel and take a very long time to recover, but it is never easy when someone reaches that inevitable ending.
As such, death witchery is a road less traveled when it comes to witches. I won’t lie and say it’s an easy path to take on. Because it isn’t, death witchcraft is probably one of the most daunting paths of witchcraft one can choose. Working closely with death isn’t for everyone and can be quite dreary on the mind, but hopefully with this entry level guide, you can really decide whether or not you truly think death witchery is a path for you.

The Darker Elements
This is a post about my personal recognition and use of the “darker” elements. These elements are based around the four basic elements, only with more aggressive and destructive qualities.
Tumblr media
⛤ Rot, the Darker Aspect of Earth ⛤
Earth energy is normally associated with life, fertility and growth. More often than not, we focus on the growth aspect. Spring is normally what we think of with Earth energy; the growing of flower, the blooming of trees, the Earth waking up from her long winter slumber.
The Darker aspect of the Earth is Rot, or Decay or Fermentation. This is a vital cycle in the Earth’s life and is usually observed in Autumn when the trees shed their leaves and we can smell the wet, decaying smell of them. However, Rot is more. Without the act of rotting, nothing new can grow in the dead thing’s place. When trees fall and rot, when an animal dies and the flies swarm, this is the power of Rot. It is not pretty, and it is not a beautiful thing. It is a necessary thing.
Associations: The stench of rotting flesh (animal or plant), mold, flies and maggots, blood and bloating.
⛤ Tempest, the Darker Aspect of Air ⛤
Air energy is usually associated with intellectual thinking, creativity, wit and freedom. Air is seen as wild and untamable, constantly flowing and moving in a never ending dance. Air is light and fresh and uplifting.
The Darker aspect is the Tempest, the Gale, the Typhoon. This is the true meaning of untamable. Air becomes wind, filled with a violent strength, able to heave earth and fall trees. The unseen force becomes a physical power, a destructive force of nature. There is no safety or freedom in the Tempest. She is a brutal, terrifying force that can bring the world to it’s knees if she is wrathful enough.
Associations: The sharp sting of rain that only a windstorm can bring, the howl of the wind, the alarming creaking you hear as houses and trees strain to stay upright under the assault.
⛤ Lava, the Darker Aspect of Fire ⛤
Fire energy is usually seen as the “dark” element. Fire itself is already destructive. It burns and destroys, leaving only ash. However, Fire can also offer light and heat and warmth. Fire can be a soothing element as well as a dangerous one.
The Darker aspect of this is Lava or Magma. This is Fire in all it’s destructive power. There is no simple warmth from Lava. To come even close to it would mean to melt your skin. It is the deepest, most hidden part of our world, it’s core. The Earth herself cannot withstand the heat. Rock and stone melt into a thick, semi-liquid.
Associations: Searing, blistering, the earth itself bursting into flame, rock melting and sluggishly moving like water bringing with it all the destruction of fire.
⛤ Abyss, the Darker Aspect of Water ⛤
Water energy is seen as constantly flowing, adaptable. It rules the emotional realms and is associated with intuition and all manner of psychic abilities. Water is a necessary force, it makes up most of our bodies and we need it to survive. It serves a variety of different purposes in our lives.
The Darker aspect of Water is Abyss. Deep down in our oceans, there comes a point where the light is not strong enough to penetrate the water. In this, we find the Abyss energy. Here the water is dark and cold, with no light. It is a realm of the unknown. There are creatures in these dark waters, some very terrifying, but with no light, you cannot see them. The most terrifying creature could be an arms length away and you would know no different. This is the closest to death we can come while still living.
Association: The unknown, the loss of the senses, embracing the fear, cold silence, the cold embrace of death.
⛤ Using the Darker Elements ⛤
The Darker Elements are focused on all the destruction that is caused by the primary element. The Darker Elements are used in spells where you want to harness the brutal destructive force of the primary element.Just as with the principle of the Fire element, the destructive forces of the Darker Elements can be used for both positive and negative outcomes.
Destruction can mean many things. It can mean the destruction of one thing in order to transform it into another, similar to the Phoenix. The Phoenix burns, but it also reborn from the ashes. Destruction can also mean aggression. You can use these destructive powers in aggressive protection or banishing spells. Destruction can also be used simply to lay waste in a curse.
