What if Artie Frost Lived? AKA my Artie Frost Lives AU

Wanted to post my incredibly detailed explanation + sketches of my "Artie Frost Lives" AU. It was a lot of fun to work on.

Also warning for abuse! Nothing graphic but just a heads up

Frost nearly dies but manages to kill Simeon's father. he assumes if Bronco isn't with him he likely got himself trapped in the car (because he doesn't trust his son to be competent enough to get anything right)

Frost saves Bronco but abandons Simeon and leaves him to die

Bronco isn't to the verge of death and remembers everything, but Frost tells him that Simeon is dead thanks to him, Bronco feels guilty and refuses to form new friendships

Frost is incredibly physically and mentally abusive to Bronco, he also continues to exploit him for certain endeavors. Whether its stealing, breaking items or flat out kidnapping children and small animals for ransom or to protect his image. Bronco slowly begins to hate himself and views himself as irredeemable.

One day, Bronco runs into Simeon again at school, but when Simeon tells him his new name, he believes Simeon likely forgot everything and tries to start over. He avoids telling his father about Simeon to prevent Frost from doing anything drastic. Simeon runs away but keeps frequent updates with Bronco through letters.

Despite his abusive behavior, Bronco is deeply attached to Frost and even looks up to him. Frost often calls him regularly to keep him in check. He also doesn't allow Bronco to grow out his hair, he likes his son compliant and quiet -Bronco's personality becomes something that's a bit overly serious, though he has his quirky charm like his love of chess and gun tricks

Bronco eventually works for Wang, but he quickly realizes that Wang is a selfish coward and a horrible politician and lacks the strength and conviction his father has

Things turn worse when an assassination plan is suggested to wang by one of the bodyguards (turns out its a message from Simeon that's framed as being from bronco), and he decides that enough is enough and that he has to get rid of Wang

He kills Rook and uses his corpse to frame Wang, though Bronco feels guilty given that Rook is a kindhearted and gentle soul and the only other person Bronco felt like he had a genuine connection with

The plan is almost successful but Bronco screwed up his alibi and was eventually caught, landing him in prison.

Bronco starts picking up on the fact that Simeon hiding more than he leads on. Bronco, desperately tries to convince himself that Simeon hasn't remembered a thing and still loves him.

After killing Rook and getting a thorough verbal slamming from his father, Simeon is the only person who helps Bronco feel grounded

After Simeon alludes to the assassination being fake despite Bronco never telling him that it was, Bronco fears that Simeon could have been the mysterious person who wrote the letter in Bronco's handwriting to Wang.

In one final test of loyalty, Bronco asks Simeon to bring him his chess set. If it's there unchanged, then Bronco knows that Simeon is trustworthy. If it isn't well... you know the rest

To protect himself, Bronco slips his chisel in Rocco's uniform so that Fifi assumes Rocco is the one with the weapon. Bronco completely breaks down mentally, feeling like his chance to fix his relationship with Simeon is now sullied and he's completely alone. He's truly irredeemable and doesn't deserve forgiveness.

Bronco eventually figures out who he's been playing chess with and realizes its Kanis. Through some small interactions, Bronco figures out the person Kanis is looking for is Simeon (but doesn't clarify that Simeon has been tricking him), and joins him in sneaking out of prison

Bronco splits from Kanis to look for his dad, he finds out Frost is attending some sort of museum showcase. but when he sees the place is surrounded by cop cars, he puts on a disguise and sneaks in.

Bronco overhears Edgeworth and Eddie's conversation about Gregory, he has his whole mental speech about nice guys not deserving to be pawns

When Frost recovers from the hospital, Bronco hears how Frost genuinely seemed to despise Bronco, brags about exploiting him, killed Simeon's father and flaunts that Edgeworth wont do a thing to him thanks to certain laws protecting him

It dawns on Bronco that his hatred for Wang wasn't because he was nothing like his dad. it was that Wang was EXACTLY like his father. exploitative, cowardly and yet publicly presents himself as powerful and in control

When Frost breaks down and is arrested, Bronco sneaks out and searches for Simeon

Bronco finds Kanis again, a little too easily. Turns out Kanis was following Bronco from a distance. He felt a bit protective of him after discovering he was Simeon's friend

Bronco and Kanis spend the rest of their time together looking for Simeon, talking and chatting about their lives and slowly forming a friendly bond.

Kanis finally explains to Bronco why he cares so much about Simeon, and while he doesn't have the full picture, Bronco believes Simeon's life is in danger. He's still unsure if he wants to protect Simeon or not. What Bronco did to him was horrible, but Bronco himself didn't know things turned this bad. he wasn't even aware Frost killed Simeon's father. He feels conflicted, but also has no one else to turn to

Kanis also calls out Bronco's endless guilt complex. Arguing that it isnt fair that his father influenced his self hatred, but Bronco states that he sacrificed two lives for selfish reasons, that he's a deplorable man. but Kanis refuses to accept it. Having an older figure not look at Bronco with disgust or fear but with genuine compassion makes Bronco deeply uneasy

Bronco finds Simeon's whereabouts first and joins in on the confrontation. Simeon is hateful and slings all sorts of insults at Bronco, but Bronco refuses to get visibly upset by them, even if it hurts.

After Simeon's breakdown, Shelly shows up to kill Simeon, Bronco rushes in and blocks Shelly with his body, but Shelly asserts he can easily kill them both. that's when Kanis dives in to save them.

Before everyone is handcuffed Bronco rushes in and hugs Simeon, apologizes profusely for his betrayal and knows his words arent enough but will do anything to protect his best friend. Simeon is initially hostile, but Bronco's act of kindness did genuinely move him.

Their fates are uncertain, but Bronco promises to be the friend Simeon deserves, not the one he pretends to be

this is an au me and @diableriezer have been working on for quite a long time, and I figured there's no better time to talk about an AU focused on rebuilding ones life than on the day it ended.

the basic premise is that after getting out of prison alive and well, Bronco worries about what he's going to do, now that he has no company take him, only to learn that the word got out about an "unkillable bodyguard" who just got out of prison and is looking for a job.

it's probably Kanis' doing. that and, after all, Bronco is still young, even more hardened by prison life, not to mention that he survived both Shelly and LaGuarde. that IS something deserving of praise.

he gets a lot of offers immediately. not legal ones, of course - guarding drug and arms dealers, money-laundering facilities, probably even traffickers. but one in particular catches his eye.

Tender Lender Awaits the Knight.

the enigmatic and terrifying Viola Cadaverini is a force to be reckoned with trapped in a frail body, and he immediately knows that she is a powerful woman, despite, or because of her small stance. she really reminds him of the one he loves

their relationship starts with respect and a bond of two "undead souls" and continues to steadily grow into something full of trust and unconditional, dogged loyalty.

the first few panels had been drawn months ago, which is why they look different. the crux of the dialogue is based on @diableriezer's idea of cowboys burying their dogs with themselves so they'd follow them to the afterlife.

DAY 21: Obi (Akagami no Shirayukihime)

I was hired to scare off the heroine of this fantasy romance, but ended up falling in love with both her and her prince love interest and becoming her bodyguard??????? Iconic honestly. This story is a sleeper agent and I love it to bits.

I love the trio but I do have Obi bias, his hat is so stupid I love it... goofy ass... The character relationships in Shirayuki are very gentle and understanding, and I love the development of them, but also the way people have their own lives and interests. There’s a very wonderful amount of respect between each of the characters I think a lot of people could learn from, and they place equal emphasis on platonic relationships as the romantic ones. The way the whole main group all supports each other is very sweet, and the art is STUNNING. SOLID READ ALL AROUND!!

Polyam win. Even if you read the series with the idea that it's only ZenYuki, Obi's still incredibly close with them. He's their qpp third. It's just you and me and our friend steve.
