#something i think some people dont appreciate is that when you resize clothing designs up#it isnt just adjusting measurements to the ones for each standard size#the way the clothing drapes and supports and moves and everything#has to change. and it goes beyond 'measurements' too especially at higher weights#where theres more variance i think in shapes#by which i mean differences come out to a greater distance which means fabric cant make up the difference with stretch as easily#you cant just change the measurements of the pattern pieces and sew them together#you can but if you want to achieve the same look its more complicated than that#simple examples are how will the neckline look on different underlying bust sizes? the crotch on womens jeans at larger sizes#with high waisted low stretch pants has to accomodate belly fat while smaller sizes wont see much additional volume there#there is more butt too which means when you size up a skirt it had to BE LONGER#its not just horizontal its vertica because clothing doesnt cover the flat measurements of a 2d representation of someone#it covers the curves of the body. and its shape isnt really what you see on a person#its how pieces of fabric should be lain on the 3d body to achieve a certain look#so length doesnt just hang down it gets pulled in and pushed away and that adds length#imagine cutting curly hair to a certain length while straight and expecting it to stay that way. and so on larger sizes#there are even more curves that have to be considered and the curves are greater so miscalculations have greater impact#so larger skirts have to be longer while off the body to be the same length while on it#and thats just designer side stuff. assuming they do all this right#fabric and construction characteristics interact with the body#the clothing will modify the shape of the body and the body will stretch and shape the fabric. a neckline will look different#depending on how high someones breasts sit even if its designed correctly and you might like it differently than it is on you#and then theres whether the clothing was designed to flatter you or imitate a flattering look on someone else#what will it emphasize? was it even resized with this in mind?#even if the goal is to achieve a same looking garment#the clothing in each size is constructed differently. its a different clothing item. it isnt made of fabric eith the same measurements#and its not just the same thing wider in some places#and the elements are going to be different depending on the body theire interacting with#and how it makes your body look are going to be different#it is in every way but intellectual property- wise a DIFFERENT PRODUCT. they are showing you a product SIMILAR to the one youre buying

not doomed by the narrative but saved by the narrative. yeah i know you'd rather die than keep suffering but the story doesn't actually care what you want. you have to keep going, even when it hurts. even being erased from existence won't stop you from being salvaged from the wreckage of un-being. get up. keep pushing. keep bleeding. keep living.
#my hot take is that this is one of the things that can make fantasy novels with a prophecy actually cool#you mostly see those in middle grade and sometimes ya where a particular unlikely hero or heroes are tasked with saving the world#and when a character is facing circumstances so difficult and having to make decisions so painful they desperately wish#that anyone else could take their place and they go from im not qualified for this#to this isnt fair i dont want this why does it have to be me#and they only force themselves to keep going because no one else can take their place#and in beyonders it was kind of even more fucked up because spoiler i guess but first there was a young prince#with unparalleled talent at swordfighting and he was a natural leader and the prophet told him that he was to go on this mission to slay#the wizard#and he gives up everything even his daughter. then he fails and his kingdom falls and kept alive but disabled by the wizard as a warning#and as an old man he learns he was never meant to succeed but that his journey his suffering and everything he lost#was to prepare him to help the ones who really did have a chance at defeating him
