a question for cali: how do you think that cobra kai have gone if daniel had married kumiko? would it have played out differently or the same?

just seeing this but i have played around with this concept with having a damiko sam! around. I do think while some thing would stay the same (like sam and anthony), other things would had changed. I can see daniel and chozen being friends before the timeline because of kumiko, as well more trips and journeys to okinawa due to kumiko and mr. miyagi. I don't think he would had gone into being a dealership businessman. Daniel always striked me as someone who would had gone into teaching, either at the dojo or as a history teacher. i feel he has that energy, of someone who loves history and would teach it.

i also think that the whole thing of no one believing him about silver would had not happened. kumiko always striked me as someone who knows daniel at heart and even if she wasn't around during tkk3, she would had believed him, so none of that fighting (amanda and daniel fight way too much about this, with often i feel, amanda dismissing daniel's desire and genuine joy of being a teacher and the dojo vs her desire for him to focus on the dealership like we see in ck part 3).

The undeniable truth is that kumiko understands daniel, and i think she would had not question why he distrusted silver which is why i think in the end they had to make him marry someone who didn't knew anything of what happened outside of the outline he told them.

first appearance in the karate kid franchise as the titular karate kid in 1984 classic and last appearance in the spin-off show cobra kai, that ended in 2025. a new movie, karate kid: legends is scheduled and ready to be released in may, starring ralph once more as daniel larusso and jackie chan who starred in the 2010 remake that is now part of the same universe , with mr. han knowing mr. miyagi who trained daniel.

ralph macchio was 24 during filming of karate kid two and turned 63 years old by the end of the cobra kai filming schedule.

I spoke of it the other day to some followers and in general. but it is a part of his story that might be awkward to some but that is that Daniel admired Silver. He wanted to be like him, Silver catered hismelf specifically to Daniel's needs and desires back then and exploited that. And even on a small aprt, Daniel had crushed on the man ebcause he was the reflection of the man he wanted to become.

Now that the show is over, I can't help but feel like the narrative all along was from the perspective written from a dudebro mindset.

They say both styles are needed. Ok. Cool. I agree. But at the end only one was rewarded. And it wasn't a mixed bag of winnings. it was all people who originally belonged to Cobra Kai.

Like with the Miyagi twist~~~ to make him "darker" you can't really convince me the showrunner's had much respect for the OG movies and and Miyagi's teachings because in their mind even if they call out how toxic it was that Cobra Kai was more appealing cause it's "badass"

Fuck maybe I'm overreacting here, but damn.
