As a queer person online who is not from the dominant cultural powerhouse in the world, the most common phrase I see is "know your queer history". I was always annoyed by this mantra not because I didn't want to take the time to understand the evolution of queerness through time but because that statement was always silently referring to North American queer history.
Australians. We now have an incredible new LGBTIQA+ documentary about queerness in Australia's colonial and Aboriginal history and it's written by gay comedians. Wins all around. If you want to learn about YOUR queer history, the three part documentary Queerstralia is now showing on ABC iView. Go go go!

A few months ago I realized something I couldn't un-realize about Minecraft and that is that villagers being killed by mobs is a direct result of the player's existence. Hostile mobs only spawn within a certain radius of the player. Villages are so unprotected because they straight up don't ever have to deal with monsters before I get there. They live, they work, undiscovered, and then I bring them apocalypse by walking slightly too close at night.
Knowing that, the least I can do is help villages I find to survive it, so I build them a wall and new homes and traps for the creatures of the night - but all that time, they're creatures I created. To the villagers it must seem like the world started ending, hoards of the undead pouring out of the earth, and then this hero emerged to save them from it all, but the danger and the rescue are one and the same and they will never really understand that, and THAT makes me go completely feral. The player is a thing of infinite life which death follows like a shock wave in the fabric of the Universe. We are a self fulfilling prophesy. How is this a thing we've all just gotten used to in the funky cube game

Helping Ahmed's Family Affected by the War in Gaza ❤️‍🩹🇵🇸
Tumblr media
My name is Ahmed, and I want to share my painful story with you. My small family is struggling to survive amidst the ongoing conflict in Gaza. I lived a peaceful and stable life with my wife, Lubna, and our children, Mohammed, 6 years old, and Ameen, 3 years old. Our lives were full of hope until the day everything turned upside down.
Tumblr media
One dark night, our home was completely destroyed by the violent shelling that swept through the northern part of the Strip. Losing our home was a huge shock, but it was only the beginning of a long journey of suffering. As the war intensified, we were forced to flee our home and move to the southern part of the Strip in search of safety. Leaving our home was not just a physical relocation; it was a painful goodbye to our cherished memories and dreams.
Tumblr media
But the tragedy didn't end there. My car, which was my only source of income, was also destroyed. It wasn’t just a means of transportation—it was how I provided for my family. Without it, we have no income, and at a time when we desperately need every bit of help, we are left with nothing.
Tumblr media
Now, my wife and I struggle every day to provide for our children under harsh living conditions. We have no permanent shelter and live in a state of uncertainty. In these difficult times, we rely on the kindness and generosity of others. Every donation, no matter how small, can make a tremendous difference in our lives. Your contributions will help provide temporary shelter, food, medicine, and other basic needs.

The Story of Abdullah Khaled Al-Haj:
My name is Abdullah Khaled Al-Haj, from Gaza, and I am 21 years old. I once lived a life of comfort and hope, but recent changes have brought me immense hardship.
Before my father's passing, our lives were full of comfort and care. I wore the finest clothes, enjoyed the best foods, and lived in a comfortable home. I worked hard and had a passion for sports, especially bodybuilding and weightlifting. Each morning, I would get up to enjoy time with friends, and my mother and younger siblings, whom I now care for, were happy and hopeful.
However, things changed drastically. We lost our father, who died in my arms at the hospital while we awaited treatment that never came. This loss marked the beginning of a challenging new phase in our lives.
Today, I no longer have suitable clothing or shoes, and I struggle to secure daily sustenance. I have lost weight from 90 kilograms to 60 kilograms due to the harsh conditions. I no longer sleep on a comfortable bed but sometimes on the sand.
The city of Gaza, which was once full of hope, has been completely destroyed, including my home that held all my childhood memories and dreams. Instead of waking up to enjoy good food and exercise, I now wake each day to search for food and water for my family, often finding myself unable to meet their basic needs.
£130 raised of £50,000 goal
