I asked my boyfriend in Canada once, how he deals with polar bears because I was curious about what to do and he was like, just be calm, let them know you’re there, and give them space and they’ll usually just go away.

Being friends with an ex?

Just wondering, how many people are still friends with their ex or exes? For example, I have kept in contact with my first ex-boyfriend for many years. We don’t see often, but about once a month we talk in WhatsApp about life, anime etc. It’s good to hear that his life is going well (he is studying abroad and will be a vet in some day), and nowadays I even have helped him with his crushes (I was so excited when he told me about the girl he is into) xD 

Of course being his friend wasn’t easy at first, but nowadays I’m so glad that I give myself enough time to recover from breakup with him. I didn’t talk to him immediately, but after over half of the year of thinking if it’s too painful for me to be his friend (when he left me, he said it could be nice), I give it a try. I’m happy that I don’t have any negative feelings from the past. 

Maybe it was easier to recover, because we dated about one year in junior high school (it was about hugging, kissing and holding hands) and most importantly, he didn’t left me because of someone else. (Nowadays my relationship with my lovely boyfriend is a way more intimate, we have been together almost two years and live under the same roof :) ) So what are your thoughts about that? Do you have had any similar situations in life or have you tried out? Have it worked or not?
