Easy to deceive, as though trust were air,
Weightless and given, without second thought,
A heart left open, unaware,
Shadow linger, lies they brought.
Eager to tease, dancing in this flame,
Tempting the edge, thrill and despair.
Spark in the dark, treating desire like a game,
Blind in the smoke of midnight air.
Hard to break free, bound by allure,
Each whisper a chain, every glance a snare.
Caught in a web spun fragile, unsure,
Tethered by longings too much to bear.
Empty desires, like stars burnt cold,
All glitter and gleam, but hollow inside.
Promises sweet, soon brittle and old,
Leaving the heart with nowhere to hide.
Worse decisions bloom from roots of regret,
Mistakes like petals that fall without sound.
Drawn to illusions, we can’t soon forget—
Lost in a garden where truth is yet to found.

Descending the stairs into the dimly lit staircase, my footsteps heavy with thoughts, Was alone or atleast hoped so, when a voice rang "Ni*** stop de-escalating"(in thought and stairs), Today, though, felt different, there was something eerie about this moment- A sense that was being watched by a shipborhter or by the Fortress of Hustle itself, feeled the hum of fellow Guildsman and the snare of the metal serpent. As i gripped my backpack my fingers ran cold, no brethren by the side, only thy twin in glass. No reason to rush, no place to be, nowhere did he belong. Waited for the steel serpent, but the Lord's Bazaar couldn't be ignored forever. Walking out thy station, saw a man stood in distance, out of thy focus though, just like mine own self, or was it thy anti-protag? The man’s face was a smear of shadow, lips moving as though to speak, but the words never came. He seemed like a phantom—someone both there and not there, like a ghost of a memory, fading with every second. He tried to speak, but the city swallowed his words, just as it swallowed his presence, his significance. And that was-

Lit by the moonlight, I saw your face— Beneath a canvas of stars, pale and sweet, A ghost of sky heavy with untold weight, Yet so gentle, like a whisper on the breeze. Lit by the moonlight, I found your gaze, In shadows unknown, where secrets sleep. The night is vast, its reaches beyond my touch, Yet here you are, slipping between my dreams. Lit by the moonlight, I felt your pull, On a night when all seems distant, out of reach. No hour passes when you're not carved in thought, Like the silver thread that ties me to this light. Lit by the moonlight, I’m lost in you— Not a day passes when your memory doesn’t call. Let my heart wander, let it lose itself to find you, In this maze of stars where all paths point to love. Lit by the moonlight, call out my name, And I'll traverse the heavens, across endless dark, Through the cold and the quiet, I’ll chase your echo, For there’s no place too far, no night too deep To find you glowing softly, somewhere in this moonlit sea. - Utsav Modi
