i’m just saying. ‘just friends’ on tv don’t ever fight like that. there’s no reason to shoot and frame a platonic disagreement that way, no matter how deep that friendship goes. you have two guys who spent the past seven years building a family together, fighting for each other, choosing each other over and over again. and thinking they’re sacrificing what they have just so the other guy can be happy. and now they’re standing right there in their kitchen, going after the softest parts of each other’s underbelly because no one else can hurt them like this. because no one else knows them like this. because no one else ever could. there’s something to be said about being unable to look in the mirror because you’re afraid of what you might see. and then there’s that guy who knows you better than you know yourself, and he sees you. he sees you when you’re angry at him and he’s angry at you, and you have no idea what to do to make him stay. and you don’t even know that he’s not going anywhere. that goes beyond friendship. because why else would he look like he’s so in love with you that he wants to rip your throat out with his teeth?

Buck spent most of that episode spiralling backwards and worrying that his family was drifting away from him only for Eddie to bring his family to him and remind Buck that he won’t lose Eddie (or Chris). That they’re family no matter what.

okay but when did eddie decide to book that ticket for christopher. was he sat in the dark on the wrong couch whilst buck laid awake just down the hall. and eddie's still so angry but with himself now. they were hurting. they were hurting and they let it get the better of them. and god. how can he fix this. because this is his to fix. not buck's for once. buck needs him right now. and eddie wasn't there for bobby but he can be there for buck. and he's sat on the couch with his head in his hands and he thinks. what's the one thing that could bring buck out of the darkness. and well it's obvious really then. their very own little ball of light. so he books the plane ticket. makes his plans. and he'll be gone before buck wakes up but their family will be back together before he can regret it.

turns out their reason for not showing eddie finding out about bobby before now was because they needed to save it for a more opportune and homoerotically charged moment. they refused to show it until it was surrounded by so much sexual tension you could cut it with the knife. 'no visible emotional devastation for eddie until he can take a swing at buck,' they said.
