It's been a while...

HULLO from the land of sheep and not much else! As the title says it's been a while! So what have I been up to I hear you asking? Well an awful lot! That's what! It goes in a loop of being at work and either cleaning the cabin windows or up in the zipwire tree to having a few bevvies after work! Oh and we found a lost duckling!! After being left by his mummy, we decided to adopt lil ass kicker! Until dan (the handy man) lost him under a condemned toilet block :/ As there are no kids on centre we've all been given the day off so I shall leave you now people of earth to nurse my poor head with game of thrones and a nice com... Nice warm bed... TTFN!

First session

So as you can see from the title it was my first session today and without a doubt it was a most dubious experience. It wasn't that I didn't know what I was doing, from previous experiences on a challenge course and from the training here it would have been an easy session... If the kids weren't so hard to get into the task. Trying to stay motivated yourself when the kids just don't wanna know is extremely difficult. Its even harder when one kid calls you a fun sponge, which then installed into the others heads that the session wasn't going to be fun. Some were brilliant though and got into it, which meant that although I was watching out for them I could concentrate more on those who needed a bigger push. It wasn't even that I made it difficult for the group either... They just didn't want to know. Especially the girls of the group, not wanting to get muddy or crawl on the ground. In future I shall definitely push for all to join in whether wanting to get muddy or not, and to put it into slang words won't take any sh*t. On the plus side however, as well as being able to lead climbing, zipwire, high ropes and of course challenge course session I can also run an archery sessions. Training continued...

So it's almost the end of my first week and it's safe to say it has been a brill week! I am now trained and assessed to lead in zipwire, climbing, high ropes and a many other thing of activities... With a group arriving later today, it really is where all the fun begins without a doubt... Although I miss the easiness of the job at home, it's safe to say this season is gunna be a killer!

Induction training

So today, it was quite literally death by PowerPoint! But needless to say I've learnt a lot and put some not necessarily fears but more concerns to rest. Finding out the closest ill be getting water during my season is raft building is grand! Also knowing that I won't be stuck in a loophole of not being able to instruct because I have no qualifications is great as well! The staff all seem a great bunch and are easy to get along with with the odd bit of "banter" is really going to make this first season for me! after making a £100 bet with a friend as to whether I would enjoy it or not... I am now regretting that decision and better start saving! We shall see what tomorrow brings with tent building (I think) and raft building in the afternoon! P.s for future reference, the food isn't too shabby either!
