Positive and Negative Impacts of social media on Career and Social Life
My professional and social lives have been significantly impacted by social media’s rise in both positive and negative ways. It is a great debate amongst people whether social media has improved or worsened our society.
Positive Career Impact: social media has been a useful career tool for me. I may share my accomplishments and display my abilities online. I can interact with coworkers, mentors, and potential bosses on websites like LinkedIn. I may learn from them and meet new individuals in my field thanks to this. I can also discuss my field, read about its most recent developments, and express my opinions. By doing this, I establish my reputation as an expert in my field. I learn about employment and opportunities to collaborate with others.
Negative Career Impact: I must exercise caution, though. My prospects of getting a job may be impacted if I express my own opinions or thoughts or items that spark debate. Occasionally, utilizing social media excessively during working hours prevents me from completing my job effectively. I need to be careful how I use social media and avoid letting it consume too much of my time (Mayo clinic. (n.d.). Para... 5...). Not only do I expose myself to a wider range of people, but I also become more substile to Bullying, Harassment and inappropriate behavior from others as well as 18+ content that not only impacts my mental health but my overall wellbeing (Dharma. (2021).
Positive effects on social life: social media has made it easy to stay in touch with long-distance friends and relatives. Even though we do not live close to each other, I can still stay up to date on their wellbeing and special moments and share mine with them as well. I use social media sites like Facebook and Instagram to see images and read about other people's lives. Even if we are not in the same location, this makes me feel connected to them.
Negative effects on social life: There are also drawbacks, particularly regarding social life. I may occasionally use social media excessively and neglect to interact with people in person. Although it is simple to send messages online, face-to-face communication is still crucial and sadly becoming a rare skill, kids and adults are increasingly isolated and seeing an increase of social anxiety. I have also seen that seeing other people's fantastic experiences on social media might make me feel down about my own life. I must keep in mind that people frequently only share the positive aspects of their lives online and most of the time are portraying a fake life that is not actually theirs (Int J Environ Res Public Health. (2023) Para... 6).
In conclusion, social media affects my professional and personal life in both positive and negative ways. It creates relationships with people and demonstrates my abilities as well as my interest, But I need to be conscious about what I communicate and make sure it does not interfere with my work and social life as it can negatively affect them both. Additionally, it is a good method to stay in touch with distant relatives and friends. However, I must balance that with real life interactions to avoid feeling self-conscious and diminish the amount of social anxiety I experience daily. Making the most of social media's advantages while avoiding its negative side effects requires me to utilize it wisely and be conscious of whether I am just trying to justify my existence in an easy manner instead of perusing real-life rewards and challenges.

long point camping trip
youtube
We went camping. This weekend we decided to go camping at Long Point. It is an hour and a half. I would say an hour and 30 minutes drive from Kitchener. So, we decided to go to Long Point at Cottonwood. Anyways, when we were on the way, we were a little doubtful of the weather because it was rainy. Yeah, when we went there, we just set up our tent. So, we laid out all our supplies and I would say one of the cons of that campsite was that the privacy was low. We had to kind of cover, cover it with the car parking in front of the campsite so that we have some privacy.
Overall, it was a great little spot for us to set up. And the next step was making the coffee, which was my duty to make a fire. It is called Chula, so it is an Indian way of making fire using rock or sand, or wood in a different setup. Coffee. So, we decided to go to the long point because it was close to the beach, steps away from it. Actually, I have been to other campsites once before, it was a great experience, but not with the water, because the water had snakes, not the harmful ones. But it has snakes. I did not like that part.
After the break, we went to the beach, which was steps away and then we just walked along the shoreline. And then we came back, since we went there later in the day, and it was like the day was over, and we just got ready to go to sleep and then redo everything again tomorrow. So, the next day we just went to the beach. Overall, it was a great experience. I am excited to explore more places like this. I would say better, but this was fun.

First blog!!!
I look forward to posting!
Before starting this assignment I was really doubting if I would enjoy it as much as I am. My initial feeling about the assignment in general were not the best, but I was wrong. A few things surprised me, especially how easy Tumblr is to use, and how exciting is to be able to create a community on a topic I enjoy.
My feelings about the assignment were negative, As the transition from in-person classes to online classes, has been a real hit on my ability to self-regulate and has created anxiety around not having someone to aid me when I need it. But, I started the assignment anyways, late, but I started, and I wish I would have done it earlier, it has been a really fun and a new experience, especially the satisfaction of creating something so simple yet so fun and entertaining, or it just might be that hit of dopamine of achieving something I perceived would be more difficult. Either way, even if I don't use this blog I created in the future, I for sure have the knowledge of a new tool to engage with a community that I have something in common with.
Tumblr is so simple and easy to use!. When asked to look for a site to start a blog my initial reaction was "Tumblr!". As a social media platform that has been around for a while, I was familiar with the blogging community within it and so I didn't think twice about using it. As I made the tutorial on how to make a blog, I found it to be so simple and smooth setting everything up, from start to finish it took around 20 minutes, Including a snack break of course. As someone into having a strict skincare regimen I immediately wanted to create a blog and community around skin care, especially natural homemade remedies that aren't too harsh on the typical college student budget. I found the Tumblr and blogging experience to be a fun and exciting one and would recommend anyone that loves to share and or wants to connect with people alike to try Tumblr.
I was so wrong, I genuinely enjoyed the experience, and completely shattered my previous perception of it being difficult to start a blog, but it wasn't, and I'm truly excited about the possibilities that creating a blog can bring, especially that of creating a community of people alike. I suggest that anyone thinking of creating a blog for the first time try out Tumblr, it only takes 20 minutes, including a snack break.
