Hiatus notice

I’ve been sitting on this for a while but I guess at the end of the day it’s the best option for me. Being on here doesn’t bring me the same joy it used to, trying to write has become frustrating, replies are stressful rather than exciting, and I just feel I don’t have anything worthwhile to contribute anymore. That, combined with increasingly difficult to handle health problems, it’s unfortunately made rp become more draining than fun. So instead of abandoning my blogs completely, I’m going to put them on an indefinite hiatus. Could be a couple of weeks or until after the new year or much longer, I’m not sure, but I do want to come back eventually. I just need to step back for a while and look after myself.

All threads and asks and messages and everything will be put on hold until I come back, though I will most likely drop everything and start fresh. But until then, there’s some stuff still in the queue that I’ll let post while I’m gone.

That came out sounding far sulkier than she’d intended it to but Saskia did loathe losing, regardless of whether it was a real battle or a friendly game of cards. The fact that she was naked as a result of having been bested mattered less, although she was grateful they’d decided to do this in private and not in the middle of a crowded tavern, full of drunken patrons watching their game.

“Give me your deck,” she said, extending an arm over the table and gesturing demandingly with her fingers. “I’m shuffling the cards this time.” She wasn’t straight out accusing him of cheating, not yet, but if he’d found a way to influence his luck– she would eventually discover it.

Dandelion’s furtive glances were not entirely lost on her, but Saskia decided she would not give him the satisfaction of acknowledging them just yet. Were she a different kind of person, she might have used his interest in her stark nudity against him but as she was, she would do this the fair way. 

Her initial defeat only fueled Saskia’s determination and she offered a teasing grin of her own. One thing she was certain of: neither would leave the room until they were both unclothed, one way or another.

“Nuh-uh,” answered the girl wordlessly, shaking her head from side to side. Her blonde braid, loose and disheveled, swayed at her back as she jumped on the low stone fence, meeting her father’s eyes bold and unafraid. 

Behind her, one of Ladislav’s stable hands was swearing under his breath, clutching at his bleeding nose helplessly while the other arm hung limply at his side. The rest of the servants were quick to evacuate the premises as soon as Ladislav had arrived to see what all the ruckus was about. It was Saskia’s word against his now. 

Without sparing the man behind her any looks, Saskia crossed her arms over her chest, hiding her own bruised and bloody knuckles. “He tripped and fell,” she added matter-of-factly and though it wasn’t a particularly inventive lie, it was delivered with straight-faced conviction. It wasn’t that Ladislav wouldn’t have taken her side in this conflict-- Saskia knew he would have-- but she wanted to sort it out on her own without any of her fathers’ influence tipping the scales in her favor.
