The perfect online interview about business travel and solving problems - The travel industry - Spotnana - Steve Singh
I came across Spotnana got a 75M investment, and even the app is not known worldwide yet. Business travel apps are becoming more important than ever before.
Following the video 5 or 6 years ago, things changed where you could not dream about 15 years ago.
The person in the video invested in SAP concur and is now investigating in Spotnana. Sap Concur is one of the biggest competitors of Green Stay. Steven Singh believes business travel is changing but it will become more important than ever before.
Now with data insight, you can solve problems. He highlights the following trends.
Solving problems
Covid
Capital
When looking at the video on the website from Spotnana, the plan is to make travelling as easy as buying food. Because that is after Covid the most needed when you think about business travel.
Spotnana is a cloud native company and the tools the employees use are the same as customer uses. Support does not have to look into an old information system for information. Everything is connected and everyone is using the same systems. Similar for modern food apps. Spotnana is built fully in the cloud and is much more modern than other travel companies.
If you connect this approach to Green Stay, I design you see the overlap of trends and ideas quickly.
The idea I got from the videos is that the profile from the business traveller's account will not be deleted when he or she leaves the job. Instead, the traveller brings it to the next company. I like that idea. You see the same with Linkedin, Linkedin Learning, Credly and other learning platforms. You move with your account to the next employer if needed.
Also, he argues that the future of business travel should not be a subscription model anymore. Because during Covid, people were still paying companies like Concur. This is something to think about. He suggests people only should pay when they use the service. In my, opinion, the customer should be able to choose. Like with the energy company or phone company. You can take a subscription for 1 year or longer.
At the end of the interview, he also goes into sustainable travel and his opinion about it.
This company information shaped my idea of the app and gave additional ideas.

Goodwings
I came across a new competitor. Good Wings. But I think it is too much connected to sustainable travel, in a way it is too much for people travelling.
What I like about the app is its monthly subscription. But they offer 1,3 million hotels from all major platforms. Very good, but are all these hotels sustainable?
We differentiate by just offering up to 4 hotels in every city. We work with these hotels together and create a community for our travellers
Also, research has shown that people want comfortable travel. Goodwings concentrate too much on reporting, emissions calculations, and carbon credits. Of course, there are business travellers who care about this. But people want a good experience too. Not everyone needs to read a report with numbers after their business travel. They have a business to do and want to enjoy the experience. But at the same time, they want to help the environment.

Communities and ideas from HostelWorld
Green Stay will also be a community. This is because at the moment it is known that Business travellers can meet and talk with each other if they are in the same country.
Therefore I added the chat option. I'll work this out. Customers have 3 levels of communication
Chat with other business travellers in the same place
Hotel chat - Chat with reception
Person assistant 24/7
Sustainable brands understand one of the most important rules of business. They listen to the customers. Customers don't need big brands that pretend they care about sustainability and future generations.
Once you create a community, the people have the feeling they belong to something, and they meet people with the same interests. They network and meet like-minded people. This maybe ends up in business opportunities or a better travel experience.
I also took the idea of building a community from HostelWorld. With the Hostelworld app, you can connect with other travellers in the same area/place.

Booking.com
Many companies still use Booking.com for business travel. My company too.
I travelled last week with booking.com and I admit it is a very good app.
Many of the ideas and features of booking.com should also be in Green Stay.
Also, the point and level system. People that use Green Stay also get extra benefits

Travelling to explore - reflection
In the last week, I have travelled with various apps to explore how it is as a business traveller.
I visit Serbia, Hungary and Slovakia. I mainly used Google Maps, booking.com and local apps for public transport. Also, I used my flight apps
I didn't use TripAdvisor, but I could have used it.
I notice that I need the following essential apps or websites for travelling.
place to take notes
XE for currency conversion
BigBus Tours - handy if time left
Omio, Seat61, Rome2rio, Google Maps
Google Translate
Different Local mobile apps for Tram, Metro, Bus and Train.
Other apps I used
Google Podcast
Linkedin learning
Shazam for recording music
Apps for courses and training
TV apps
Spotify
Each time when I use an app, I try to think. Do you know how I can integrate it into my Green Stay app?
Also, when travelling, I checked what could the hotel do to be more sustainable. I noticed that the heating was on when it was not needed, paper cubs are used and taxis, where used even the bus/metro, is 100m away. But installing and checking the unknown app costs more time. Also, the taxi price was so cheap nobody cared about a more sustainable journey by metro. Being comfortable was more important. Similar to the feedback from the surveys. Then the taxis could have been more sustainable. Also, Green Stay's hotel could also call if possible only for electric cars, for example. I learned that taxis are neccecery because people want comfort.
One idea to mandatory people use public transport is not to refund the cost of a taxi anymore on a business trip. Then people will take public transportation.
Therefore Greenstay must have links to every option possible to travel green.
