arabic poetry is so beautifully yet painfully romantic, i mean “they asked “do you love her to death?” i said “speak of her over my grave and watch how she brings me back to life" and “because my love for you is higher than words, i've decided to fall silent" and "it is not enough to say love in Arabic, you must say 'be the thing that buries me'" could have got jane austen crying and shaking

"(insert some goober male celebrity or character) is the protector of lesbians!" butches are the protectors of lesbians in all historical truth. Storme DeLarverie was patrolling the streets with a bat and then a gun, she was referred to as the guardian of lesbians in the village.

Somehow a guy character best represented one part of my experience as a wlw
I recently watched The Half of It on Netflix, and I loved it so much and felt so seen by it that I cried after it ended and immediately talked a friend into watching it with me sometime.
**Warning, slight spoilers ahead!! Skip if you do not want to be spoiled about any plot points in the movie.
One of the most unexpected ways that I felt represented by this movie was in the way that Paul Munsky was pursuing Aster. Ellie Chu asks Paul WHY he says he is in love with Aster, and he just keeps repeating that she is “smart, she’s funny, and she’s never mean.” And he INSISTS that this means that he is in love with her. This was one of the clearest representations of the way that I have felt about men my whole life, and the reason that I was sure I was bisexual up until recently.
I would always tell myself and others about my latest guy crush and I would always say well, he’s smart, he’s kind, he’s funny, he’s good looking, and I like spending time with him. That’s what a crush is, of course! (I thought this way until I first fell hard for a woman. When I realized that what I was feeling for her was unlike anything I’d ever felt before).
Anyway, I would love to talk more about this movie with you if you’re interested! There are so many amazing things that writer and director Alice Wu brought to life.
I also want to mention that I don’t say any of this to invalidate Paul’s feelings! All that we know about his love is what he tells and shows us. And he also states to his Mom how he feels about his sexuality. His character writing just really spoke to me, in the way that he seems to be following rules and standards in love.
