Local History (excerpt: The Beginnings and Endings of Recent Activity Emails)
Recent Activity, Birmingham, August 15th 2018.
In this new performance by Patrick Coyle, the artist leads a walking tour of several sites in the area surrounding Recent Activity. He chose not to visit the project space in advance, but rather to plan his tour over the internet, and will not see the sites until the day of the performance.
Full performance approximately 1 hour.

WRECKSOME FLOTTLESAM STATIOM (1/3)
Performance in Wrexham (Tŷ Pawb, Waterworld, Library, Waterstones, Markets), Thursday 26 April 2018, 8-9PM
For the exhibition Is This Planet Earth?, Tŷ Pawb. Curated by Angela Kingston, 2nd April – 24th June 2018.
'Patrick Coyle puts forward the idea that, at roughly the time at which aliens visit our exhibition, water has become a prized, luxury item. He conducts tours of ‘Wrecksome Flottlesam Statiom’, the revered water-bottling site near Tŷ Pawb, host venue of the ‘Is This Planet Earth?’ exhibition. In Wrexham, radioactivity has seeped into the underground water supplies (essential to the town's historic brewing industry). Yet, Patrick Coyle gives an upbeat account of the ways in which people have adapted, even though it’s clear that in the time since then, human speech and behaviour have undergone profound change, and the fundaments of nature, air and water, have become fraught and scarce.'
