Danny Phantom idea: an Abandoned AU where Tucker and Sam run away from Danny when the portal accident happens, either before or after he comes out of the portal. Could maybe be angst, where Danny has to deal with his best friends betraying their friendship, or maybe horror, where Danny comes to school the next day and Sam and Tucker freak out about why the friend they saw die is clearly still alive, if avoiding them.

I've seen a couple people shitting on Episode 9 of Dandadan for 'sexualizing children' when they're actually not. If you see people in their underclothes or even naked and think 'this is sexual', that's a you problem, babe. If this was a beach episode, where Momo and Aira would be wearing the same exact thing but as bathing suits instead of underwear, you wouldn't be saying shit, even though they would be showing the same exact amount of skin. If looking at someone in a casual state of undress makes you feel as though they are being sexualized, YOU are the person doing the sexualization, not the show.

might seem like a harmless quirk but once you start typing in exclusively lowercase you can never capitalize anything again outside the designated midsentence Gay Emphasis Zones or anyone following you for longer than a week will think you’re about to commit murder

I'm knitting in the corner at a party
and guys my age stop by to tell me I remind them of their aunt, of their grandmother. This is a compliment and I take it as such. They confess to having tried crochet once, and I smile. They get back in line for the bathroom.
I'm knitting in the corner at a party and a queer woman sits on the floor next to me, arranges her skirt, and smiles up at me. (I try not to blush.) She asks me all the questions on her mind about my craft and I answer them, hands still moving. We swap yarn sources. She doesn't stay, but she knows where to find me.
I'm knitting in the corner at a party and everyone knows where to find me when they need a minute, when socializing is too much and the music is too loud and they need to catch their breath. They pretend to be checking in on me, which is sweet, but I can see the relief in their eyes the moment they stop performing for a house full of people. They sit down and tell me things and all the while they never take their eyes off my hands.
The party has wound down and I'm still knitting and the hosts, two guys in their twenties, thank me for "helping to curate the vibe." I had no idea that's what I was doing. I leave the party having forgotten to drink anything and without that woman's number but with many rows added to my top-down raglan sweater. I call it a night, and a good one.

Look, imma be honest with y'all. If you can't tell the difference between sexual and nonsexual nudity and complain about the treatment of female characters when male characters go through literally the exact same thing or worse, maybe Dandadan isn't for you.

I’m sorry but if there is one thing the Tumblr left needs crucially, it’s the ability to celebrate.
I remember when marriage equality was called and there were waves of rainbows and love wins posts. When we successfully defeated Donald Trump, there was lukewarm relief, a reminder that you were only allowed one or maybe two days to celebrate and then it was back to work. That is if you were even a good person for voting Biden. We never did settle if he was better than Trump. (We did.). We didn’t celebrate student loan debt relief or any of the accomplishments of the Biden administration, or any of the times Trump was blocked, or other countries succeeding in keeping fascists out of office. Who cares if we had successes? It’s not good enough. Back to work!
And this anti-celebratory attitude stretches back to the past. On the 100th anniversary of female suffrage in America, we were reminded that not all women had the vote and so we weren’t allowed to celebrate. The only post I saw about Juneteenth was reminding us that there were enslaved people who were killed instead of freed and therefore celebrating the end of chattel slavery was wrong, and besides, we have prison labor so nothing really changed or got better and there’s nothing to celebrate anyway. Trans Day of Visibility comes with Trans Day of Remembrance so that people don’t fill the tags with hate crimes and death. So on and so forth. Nothing gets better. Nothing changes. Back to work!
So of course when we have a major setback, we fall apart and have to start frantic damage control. Frantic discourse ensues over how much people are allowed to unplug before it becomes bad and selfish. Yes, maybe you can have this one day off Mr. Cratchit but you better be here and miserable early the next morning. Like abusive bosses always insisting you squeeze out more, more, more, and any achievement is just proof you were lazy the other times and impetus for more work.
If we are never allowed to acknowledge any of our victories, how are we supposed to survive our defeats?

I loved when okarun wore momo's clothes, it was one of my favorite scenes despite how underrated it was. Another understated thing I liked was when Okarun did the mouth to mouth without any complaint. Momo is consistently badass and I love her so much. I rewatch episode 4 just for the scene where Momo is about to grab the train with her powers and the palette just turns gold, and you can see the sunset and oh my gosh it's just… mwah! I also love how Turbo Granny stopped the serpo from probing Momo in the first episode? Because I realized that on rewatch after Seika explained about Turbo Granny's backstory–she went to Momo to protect her. It was subtle, and like some of the show's best moments, suuuper understated. Like I've only seen it mentioned a few times but its one of my favorite parts of the show's construction. I can't wait for Episode 8. :D
Yes yes yes to all of that!!! More things I love where it’s just “hey people are complicated and here are characters that reflect that” like Aira got some lifechanging trauma that episode and I can’t wait to see where that goes for her. I don’t expect her personality to totally flip or anything because that’s not how people grow and change and it’s not good character development to just “fix” her. But at heart she really is a silly highschool girl who thought she was the center of the universe (because she was trying so hard to be) and got some reality crashing down on her in a pretty brutal way.
And again the CPR scene, in other anime’s there would have been blushing and protesting but in dandadan it’s “oh god oh god we have to try and save this girls life” it’s treated as the medical procedure it is rather than “kissing” which contrasts nicely with Okarun and Momo’s actual accidental kiss. It was more a painful smash of their faces together but it embarrasses her and becomes more because Okarun and her actually know and like each other. She didn’t even really think that hard about how it could be considered a kiss at first because “ow we just smashed faces together and FINALLY I found you so we can talk” it’s only later that she gets embarrassed. And she gets embarrassed BECAUSE she’s starting to like Okarun even if they’re just friends right now.

there's something i must draw your attention to; in hasdeo and bastar, both regions in chhattisgarh, the indian police and military are unleashing grave violence against the indigenous peoples of india, to dispossess them of their land, livelihoods, and ultimately their lives in order to enrich the imperialist economy. this is genocide, and one that goes under-reported by the national media and ignored by the international media. the indian nation state only claims decolonisation to mask its many, many colonial projects, spread across the length and breadth of the subcontinent. i am naming two egregious instances. there are many more.

I think i can now articulate why I like Science SARU's adaptation of Acrosilky's backstory. In the manga it was something like 3 pages and its silence was effective in its medium: the detached cruelty, the single minded desperation. But it was always framed with acrosilky as an object/victim of her circumstances.
It's often taken for granted when we see "desperate single mom" tropes that the single mom is a side character or just a catalyst for the story. Here in ep 7, it was Acrosilky's story. It's her struggles and it's her POV. I think it's so deeply powerful that we see things from her direct POV (her daughter hugging her, the money, the timer) those are what she focused on, what's important. The times we see from outside her POV is how society sees her: small and unassuming, a janitor, a service worker.
We're literally put into her shoes, seeing her joy and her pain. I didnt just feel 'oh how sad/pitiful', i felt her want for better things for her daughter, i felt her desperation. It's so deeply empathetic for a character archetype that is often just there to be sad fodder.
How rare is that in a shonen anime.
#they gave her story the time it deserved#and i love the anime so much for it#i couldn't help the tears that exploded out of me#i think its my favorite episode so far#dandadan continues to be surprisingly excellent in a way i can't get enough of#reblog#dandadan#spoilers
