Fun fact: corpses wouldn’t rot on the Moon. They’d mummify. 

So when Della started trying to rebuild the Spear of Selene, she would have uncovered the preserved remains of her crushed leg under that giant chunk of debris. 

I think after briefly debating whether or not she should bring home the biggest piece to freak out her brother, she decided it was best to just let the dead leg lie.
