What I’m thankful for.

I’m thankful that I’ve been hungry so I can appreciate when I’m full. I’m thankful that I’ve been homeless so I can appreciate every roof over my head. I’m thankful that I’ve gone through so much, because every day, every choice makes me who I am. Every event shapes me for better or worse. Especially the people.

What I am most thankful for this year (and every year) are my closest friends. They’re my everything even if we don’t talk as much as we’d all like to. When we are finally able to talk it’s like we didn’t miss a beat, as if we’ve talked every day leading up to it. I love my friends more than anything else. My soul is truly, deeply, in love with theirs. They keep me sane, keep me grounded. I couldn’t have made up better people in my head if I tried. I will always be there for them and I know they’d do anything for me, even if my mind makes me think otherwise. I would be so lost without them. My darling friends. I don’t know what I’d do or where I’d be without them. Without them supporting me and being there for me when I was just a few shards of a person lying on the floor. 

I am thankful for them today, and every day. And always will be.

Once my friend Henry was accused of wearing wireless headphones by a substitute so she said for him to hand them over so he took them off and handed them to her. Then later on she asked him a question and he didn’t respond so she said it louder and he still didn’t respond. She asked why he was not responding and he said “I can’t understand you ma'am, you took my hearing aids.”
