I've blocked people I considered friends, people who prided themselves on being informed and open-minded, for uncritically and eagerly sharing conspiracy theories and outright lies.

People I met and chatted with over our dumb fanfiction, people who were happy to gush about stupid anime with me suddenly became completely incapable of critical thought, excitedly, eagerly posting about how people I love are all fucking liars and deserve to be raped and murdered and taken hostage, but also that didn't happen and it's all a false flag, but also they DO totally deserve it, but also...

I don't know. I don't know sometimes how to go forward in the world when I see how quickly so many people I thought were decent enough flipped to absolute gleeful, breathless cruelty in a heartbeat.
