However, there are many resources available to students who are considering college and one of which is the university rating list offered by QS. This web site provides prospective students with information on over 500 accredited universities in the United States. In addition to providing information on the university, they also provide useful links that lead to student newspapers, career centers, student support services, and admission procedures.
A peek at the top 50 universities in the QS university ratings allows students to get a quick preview of the colleges with helpful summaries. If a prospective student has trouble deciding on an institution, or if he or she has not yet determined which program is right for them, the QS university rankings may prove very helpful. Here are some of the highlights from the QS university ratings:
Howard University, in Washington D.C. is ranked #9 in the nation in the service category. The university specializes in business administration and has an enrollment of over thirteen thousand students. Howard University features a great climate, great opportunities for social interaction, and a low cost of tuition. In addition to its highly rated business program, Howard University has an excellent counseling program that gives future business professionals hands-on experience with the most up-to-date tools. The average class length at Howard is seven hours; however, students can complete their studies in as little as five hours.
George Mason University is ranked #6 in the service category and is one of the largest historically black colleges in the country. George Mason University has a long standing history, and George Mason University was founded over eighty years ago. Students at George Mason University take courses in business, law, paralegal, and education, and there is a large focus on service since the school also houses the Black Women's institute. The school also offers many different programs, including a health care center, career services, and residential treatment programs. Many students choose to pursue an online degree because it allows them to continue their education even while working.
Seton Stafford College, one of the oldest colleges in the country, is rated at a respectable #7. Seton Stafford is located in Virginia and offers students a large selection of classes that range in topic from the classics to liberal arts. The average class length at Seton Stafford College is six hours and students can complete their programs in as little as five hours. The colleges offers many programs including business management and counseling, nursing, arts, science, and math.

The rankings are based on thousands of factors including cost of attendance, reputation, placement rate, faculty diversity, student satisfaction, graduation rate, and employment rate. While you do have access to the rankings, you must make sure to visit each school and fill out an application if you would like to apply.
