Evaluation 2
After I identified the few mistake I went back to my project and managed to change the thickness of the wings by duplicating them and aligning them in a manner that will make it look thicker, and for the blue glows I simply duplicated the gausssian blue layers to make it look as if it is glowing more.
Overall the gif like is not bad but I wouldn’t say it has the best and quality finish but without the noise on Behance it looks better but a problem faced is that it takes long to loads so the wings do not come up as quick as the original version.
Also the layout of the file next time should be more like a square so it will have equal height and width so it will look like the piece of work which it was inspired from and I need to practice different ways of making a noise like background so everything will work together and compliment each other and look aesthetically pleasing.
Next time I want to do more of this style work but base it on a theme like nature, so basically the natural elements as like wind so birds, fire, a fire that grows bigger gif and nature of like a leaf falling down with harmony.

Final Piece and Evaluation
During this project I learnt a lot of new techniques and styles, from rigging with Duik, to water painting color to extending my knowledge on After Effects.
It took me a lot before coming to my final design idea and actual piece of work, way more than it should have as I was pretty messy and unorganized with my final work as I kept having ideas that could extend to another idea and could not choose which one to perfect to begin with.
With my final piece I believe that it could look better as I wanted it to look brighter just as the example but I initially didn’t know how to improve it but I figured out that the line drawings had to be much thicker and reduce the opacity of the noise layer so it would not look like an old TV as it currently does.
Here is the slightly improve version of it, I changed the thickness of the wings and reduced the opacity of the noise background.
You can slightly see the difference as the wings are now a little more thick and visible which make it look brighter and catches the eye a little bit more.
In the end to improve my work next time I want to save enough time to make 3 various motion graphic designs but with different themes and I feel like I did not meet the YouTube video with rain theme is set at the start as it all changed after the passing of a friend but for next time I need to save myself more time and stick to one idea and see how I can evaluate it and develop it instead of changing it completely.

Wings Work 3
After making the wings, I created a new composition so it would have a squarish shape and place the wings diagonally to represent a bird taking off by using a diagonal line across the image as like an Anchor point so they would be a little bit straight when it takes off.
Also the quote was inspired by BTS song ‘Butterfly’ and they also have the Gaussian blur on and after this I started playing with the Opacity to animate them flickering one after the other.
I also turned the wings into a 3D object in case I wanted to change one of the aspects.
Additionally I wanted to add like a mascot logo on top of the script before I changed the screen to a square shaped because when it was rectangular it felt really empty as it had too much spare space on it, so I got another image od a Dove and started creating like a logo but then managed to change the size of the composition and decided to leave it out as it might have made it look messy.

Wings Work 2
After tracing the each individual wings I needed, I imported them into After Effects and I started with the first wing and at the beginning my screen was set as a landscape rectangular shape instead of a square as I was trying to make it similar as the flesh less hand holding the rose.
Before that I duplicated the layer of the first wing and played with the Gaussain blur after changing the color of the wings below so it would look like it is glowing blue and made like a reflection underneath to show that it is glowing and to make it more bright I duplicated the layer with the Gaussian blur on and went on to make the rest but I did not like the reflection on it.

For this piece of work I downloaded the image of Doves flying so I could trace them on Illustrator.
The reason why I started of with the Doves was because I wanted to make a tribute to my late friend who passed away but I then decided to keep in neutral instead.

Development
.As from the 17/05/2019 I started to work on my walking character on the 16th but I decided to dedicate the work if it comes out well to one of my mates who passed away in April.
I am going to add some lyrics which remind us of her and use Victoria Siemer similar effect of word reflecting in the water.
The idea is to have a character walking under a spotlight with rain around him and lyrics popping up on screen.
If that doesn’t come out well I will make a moving “fly high” quote with Megs date of birth and date of death and the wings will come up on screen one after the other and it will be made in light blue.

Walking V
After the making of the illustration I started to work on After Effects, everything seemed to be working nicely.
Unlike the tutorial I watched before making my own walking character, I deleted the limps of the character that I did not need such as the head, spine and arms as they were all at the angle I needed them to be and the hands of the character are in the pocket so they wouldn’t need excess movements. I initially tried to keep the head setting but when it got to the animation it would make the character look like it is nodding a lot so I decided to scrap it.
A set back I came across was because of the lack of knowledge of the system and the legs were moving the wrong way so I decided to try my last idea of the flower which became Wings.

Walking V making of character
Step 1
To make my character I got an image of a man walking on Google images nd the image of the facial area I wanted and imported it on Illustrator and started to trace over it making sure both images are of similar size and that they fit well together.
Step 2
At this stage I complete the tracing of the work but I made sure all the different areas of the work were on different areas as I noticed from the tutorial that they all have to be in different layers for the rigging to work properly and for the face I added black strand of hair to cover the face as the song I wanted to add is named ‘She’s in the rain’ by the Rose and it linked with the rain theme and the fact that the guy will be walking under the rain without an umbrella will show that he is sad with the hair covering his face so you it reinforces he is sad and walking in the rain. Additionally the reason why it is black is because most of the work will be dark so it can fit with the background.
Step 3
After noticing the mistake I did in the leg I decided to remake it similar to the front one but detached from the body as I was going to merge them when using Duik on After Effects as when I started making it, the preset would only bring up the setting for one of the legs. I initially just tried to realign it before deciding to completely leave the leg out of the body.
Also the hands are in the pocket so I wouldn't need to animate the arms moving.

Walking V
For the making of this motion graphic, I started off by searching for a man walking, I was going to film Rudi walking outside and import it into Animate but I got told my another teacher that it would take much time if I did it that way and it would not be specific or quality piece of work, so he suggested to use a plug in named ‘Duik Bassel’ which helps with the walk cycle so he helped me download it and install in on After Effects but when it got to the actual animating of the character I went on YouTube and followed a tutorial by ‘Jake in MOtion’ which thought me the basic of the preset.

Flower work 2
The reason I decided not to continue with this work was because realistically to animated the flower like the gif examples, I would need to do 90%of the work on Adobe Animated using the onion skin and to achieve such a high quality it would take a lot of work and I would need to go out and take videos of flowers when it rains, i would also need to trace a video frame by frame but at the time it was mostly sunny so I decided to abort this style of work and tried to focus on the walking character as time started to run out.

Flower work
To start off my work I decided to try and do the easy work to start off and I got an extremely old image of V holding a flower and turned it black and white and with the pen tool on Photoshop kept the color on the flower but as I went in with the work I did not like the image at all as it is really pixeleted and wouldn't achieve the theme or style of work I wanted.

Potential Project Ideas
At this stage because of time I started to come up with my final idea for this project and it was between sticking with the flower theme, or another new ideas,
Since I was doing motion side of graphic design I decided to stick to it but in different themes
The themes were:
Flower drop w rainfall
Walking in the rain with lyrics
Wings Gif animated just like the flesh less hand holding the rose
To create these I will use series of Adobe apps, which are Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects for the animation and Ai, and Ap for the art work and lastly Adobe Animate for the walk cycle and possibly drawing of moving flowers.
What I will be creating is motion graphics, my audience is not specific as the main ideas are mostly linked with nature because of the rain, flowers and Wings so it is really anyone who enjoys those criteria but if I had a target age it would be viewers from age of 13+ who will understand what is going or the possible message I might add. The purpose behind the work is for people who really appreciate the small things and to act as like a YouTube image for chill playlists for example songs to listen when it rains or studying under bad weather.
I personally liked the idea because I listen to a lot of songs with the rain theme and some have the rain sounds as the background sound as I stay indoors to do work when it rains and someone might put it just to get in the studying mood even tho it might be decent weather outside.
A good example of this is when Liam puts an image on the board for example a beach during lesson which sometimes contains the sound of waves then he puts on a playlist on top of that and it makes the atmosphere of the class more relaxed and chill even tho it may be snowing or raining outside, so that is my main like theme and idea for the piece of work.
The example below with the cup is basically what I am trying to do as it is a little animation of loop.

Development of idea
As from the 13/05/2019 I decided to try my second idea generation style as I personally did not like how things were going so i wanted try and recreate two of the gifs below one of the flower, it is not animated because of the way I saved it but the flower moves up and down as the water drops so I wanted to try and recreate it and the flashing flower hand or the splashing flower gif.
But as an emergency I wanted to simply animated flashing lights on an image of someone holding a flower so it would slightly look like the hand holding the flower but the light would simply flicker and the person would be black and white except for the flower as it is the main point of focus.

Taeyang development 1
Step 1
To start off I divided the image into two, what I did is I went onto the adjustments on Illustrator and selected the ruler to mark the middle and using the line tool I divided teach section and then, made a black background on a side and white on the other.
Step 2
After dividing the sections I added a new layer and locked the rest and I turned the visibility of the black side to 0 and started tracing the main areas that formed the face and gave it details with the white pen tool and used a standard pen.
Step 3
At this stage I started adding key shadows to add more detail to the picture to help reinforce the shape and features of the face and I turned the visibility back up to check on progress and see if it was coming out correctly.
Step 4
This part of the stage is different from the previous one because I started to change the white lines and over all lines to a grey because I saw that I was forming a full on image so I wanted it to look a little more uniform and much more details was added, for example the hair as I started to add more shadows and overall detail so instead of keeping it as a line drawing I made a black and white sort of image using negative colors only.
Final
I personally did not like the final out come of this as I felt like it was a bit empty so I added the name in two different shades on each side and changed the intensity of black on the background so you can actually see where the hair start and end if you look closely in detail.
To improve this work next time I should use only one color background and it will look much better.

Taeyang Line drawing
As after doing the piece of drawing of Jennie I came to realize that the image was pretty much a line drawing of the K Pop star so I decided to do a line drawing of another star but this time male a member from a group named BIGBANG.
The reason behind it was because of the lack of material, I was really struggling with the quality of my work and the looks so I decided to make something much simple.
This is the image I decided to use and since it was black and white I decided to stick to a black and white theme and make a side of the image black with white lines and the other white with black lines.
This piece shows how development areas in which something from an old piece of work can lead to another as they indirectly have similar themes.

Theme of Jennie
To make sure the theme behind the Jennie work I want to explain it separately from the rest of the work.
Theme: Waterpainting
My main source of research is the water painting technique comes from my initial idea generation.
The reason as to why I decided to go for a painting style initially is because for years I’ve been wanting to try and make a good painting as I normally do not like the tremendous amount of time it takes; originally I wanted to paint the picture by hand with water colors and printed the image of Jennie on A3 paper so I could sketch it then start to colour it in.
Due to the lack of material I did not continue with the traditional piece of wok because I was searching for the best ways to trace work and it said and I also got told that I needed a bright surface to draw the image as I wanted to place that piece of paper with Jennies face underneath the paper where I was going to sketch.
I initially tried to use the reflection from the window to draw on top of Jennie but the light wasn’t enough and I did not have one of those devices which allow you to trace easily as they produce light from underneath making it easier to draw on, such as LED tracing Tablet, Tracing app in Microsoft and the traditional light table we had in my previous school so I decided to use Photoshop.
My other diverse idea which involved Photoshop was what I used, it was simply search watercolor tutorials and follow them but another set back I had whilst doing this was that my version of Photoshop did not have a drawing preset so I had to use the normal “Essential” preset and I found out from my research that it might have made stuff much easier to make and to follow as I did not follow the tutorials step by step and I had to improvise.
Some Specialist materials and technique that can be use for this style of drawing is like I stated before the light boards and mainly another key material are the various type of drawing pencils and watercolors instead of normal painting gears.

Additional step for Jennie
Here are some of the brushes I had to download from Adobe.
The reason I downloaded the Kyle brushes pack is because on the YouTube tutorial most of the designers were using a series of brushes from this settings so I thought if I use similar brushes I’d get similar results.
But a thing that did not go to plan is the fact that I did not know exactly the style of brush they used as on the videos it is hard to see which brushes setting they chose except for the name “Kyle” and the tutorial did not explain what type of brush you use where, when and for what.
