I'm a rabbit who rose from the dead some time back (modern necromancy is amazing), and this is my garden! This blog is just a place for me to gather things - but not all things or all sorts of things - that I find calming or lovely or interesting or funny. My hope is that it can be a nice little corner of the internet for anyone who randomly stumbles upon it.

They taught us this in America too; that -sama was shockingly obsequious and should only be used for gods or the emperor or an emperor god.
After four years living in Japan I can confirm that it’s just simply not true.
I’m annoyed at how my primary school Japanese class taught us honorifics.
Like, I get why they kept it simple, we were both a) primary school students and b) Australian, and thus could not be trusted with an honorific system.
But they taught us that ‘sama’ was For Deities Only.
And I have been confused for years, watching anime, until I looked it up! And it’s not deity specific! I have no idea why they taught us that*!
This post brought to you by me re-watching Revolutionary Girl Utena with subs, making me go “Okay, Nanami OR Anthy being absurdly respectful/quasi-deifying is plausible, but both? I’m looking this up to check.”
*There is, of course, the distinct possibility that primary school-me completely misunderstood or misremembered what they taught me. But still.

Note to vacationing non-Americans: while it’s true that America doesn’t always have the best food culture, the food in our restaurants is really not representative of what most of us eat at home. The portions at Cheesecake Factory or IHOP are meant to be indulgent, not just “what Americans are used to.”
If you eat at a regular American household, during a regular meal where they’re not going out of their way to impress guests, you probably will not be served twelve pounds of chocolate-covered cream cheese. Please bear this in mind before writing yet another “omg I can’t believe American food” post.

Zorua, the Tricky Fox Pokémon. It changes into the forms of others to surprise them. Apparently, it often transforms into a silent child.
Happy Halloween everyone!

me as a 12 year old: yeah, women are just objectively more person-like. anyone would want to be a woman over a man. it’s just how things are. womanhood is just categorically the superior state of being. i would never dream of altering my body, that would be wrong.
me as a 12 year old: yeah, women are just objectively more beautiful. like its just true. women are always more attractive than men, thems the facs. it is nature, god’s will, if you may. i am heterosexual.
