As someone who grew up with a white supremist Christian cult on my mother's side, I gotta say that the mentality that builds DNI lists is the exact same mentality they tried to teach us to have in Sunday school. Purge the wicked from your sight by making your allegiance to God known, and clense the world of the influence of the Devil. Only consume wholesome content thst strengthens your bond with God. Ban and censor anything ungoldly. So yeah I gotta agree. Very not great mindset to start anything from.

i don't respect DNIs not in the sense i go out of my way to break them but in the sense that i don't respect DNIs as a concept and consider them to be something of a red flag in general.

i'm not sure how to explain it but it's the combination of usually putting very serious issues on the same level as fandom stuff, the fact that half the time people don't even know what they're against beyond 'the bad stuff' therefore even further watering these issues down, and the idea that other people are expected to manage your online existence for you.

there's a passiveness to it that i think is actually a problem and it does not surprise me in the slightest that people with DNIs tend to view what media they consume as activism. do you get what i'm saying.

One of the biggest issues of moving to England as a person who is Ukrainian AND neurodivergent is not knowing how to answer the small talk question of "how are you", but today I was reminded that Ukrainian blessed me with the phrase that roughly translates as "living is hard but dying would be a pity" and can we please naturalise it so I can use it all day every day

Anne Frank would be celebrating her 96th birthday this year. It's not as ancient as people think. We haven't changed all that much in a couple of generations. The holocaust is only just now fading away from living memory, but lives on through secondhand accounts. I am one of those who was lucky enough to meet a survivor as a child. She changed my whole life. I swore back then I would never stand by and let it happen again. It will be over my dead body. And i still intend to keep my word. I have no intention of dying, but if I just vanish off of tumblr some time in the future, know I didn't go quietly. And keep on fighting.

Pop does stand for popular, so statistically speaking it's likely gonna happen eventually. Growing up is accepting you aren't immune to the society and culture that defines everyone in it to some degree.

We really do need to acknowledge just how much terfs and their queen terf paved the way for the fourth Reich to happen over here. She herself is literally to blame. Trump galvanized the nazis with the transphobic flame she herself lit. SHE IS THE ONE PROTESTING WOMEN'S RIGHTS, AND SHE JUST WON.

We also need to acknowledge that for those of us who were paying attention, we said this would happen from the very beginning. Either we all have body autonomy, or none of us do. Either we all have rights, or, none of us do. Now none of us do, just like terfs wanted. There is no simply working with a nazi. You either stand with them, or against them. You can't say "I'm not a nazi, I just believe some of their beliefs". That's not how it works.
