Coldplay - Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall

Andromeda had tried to sneak up and scare Regulus but before she could get ready to do so he spoke and her plan fell apart. “You don’t look too thrilled.” She mused in a melodic tune before she finally noticed how tired and not at all happy he looked. “What’s wrong?” Asking was stupid, he was probably still going through a rough time. Sirius leaving had hit the family hard but even though she was happy for him she couldn’t help but worry for Regulus. “You don’t have to be here if you want to, you know that right?” She said, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder.

Regulus wasn’t the type of person who went to parties. He wasn’t the type that enjoyed them very much because there were too many people, too much noise. But here he was, standing in the corner like he usually did at things like this. Of course he was right, because there were too many people and it was too loud. The bags under his eyes were a dark purple, and he could feel the dark mark moving beneath his skin but at least he was here. “Great party.” He mumbled.

“Are you always this judgemental?” Andromeda asked, eyebrows raised before she laughed at her own question. “Forget I asked.” 

“What is with the attire?” Stefan raised a curious brow. “I know we have had two costume parties this year but – this isn’t supposed to be one.”

“This has nothing to with family but if this is a chance to set myself apart, then sure, I am going to use this too.” he said with a grin on his lips even though the topic of family was not most welcome with him at the moment. “I have always been one – put up with the lot of them for this long, didn’t I?”

“Fair enough. I can’t blame you, even if I’ll miss you after you get mauled.” Andromeda said with a sigh. “Do you think I could get your wand? I’ve always liked it more than mine.” She wasn’t being serious so she couldn’t help the smile that overtook her features. “I knew it! At least you are now out of there.”

“Fair enough.” He mused, leaning back. “Anything else happen over the holidays? Dad threw all my presents away while mum watched.”

“Are your parents always that... awful?” Andromeda found herself at a loss for words. She thought her parents were bad but clearly, in one way or another, he had it worse. “I- not really, just had to attend a lot of boring dinner parties.”

“ that’s what sucks ! ” he almost shouted. “ approval this and approval that. ” he sighed. “ i hate it. ”

“it more than sucks,” she replied with a shake of her head. “I say we rebel against it, but... maybe I’m just exaggerating.”

Andromeda glanced at the younger student that Lily had spoken to and slowly nodded before turning her attention back to her book. “They always get loud around this time, you can tell they are over classes.”

“I don’t know if anyone has updated you on this but I appreciate you more when you are quiet.”

“I almost did. Then mum laid the guilt on thick.” He let out a sigh. “I’m just not as happy anywhere as I am here.”

“Mum and dad would have personally come in to pick me up had I not shown up.” She sighed along before pIopping down on the seat next to him. “I agree with that statement.”

“That makes two of us, but it would have never been approved.” Andy said with a sigh. “I was bound to suffer regardless.” 

“ it’s too late for this but i honestly wish i stayed in school during break. ”

“But my weren’t wonderful... though they weren’t terrible either. Maybe just boring, I wish I had stayed here.” 

“I’m going to save you all the trouble. My holidays were terrible now… go on about how yours were wonderful. I’m waiting.”

“You really enjoy setting yourself apart from the rest of the family, don’t you?” Andy wondered amusedly. “I don’t know if a bear would be that exciting, though, just painful.” She commented eyeing him carefully. “Don’t tell me you are a masochist.” 

“The killing curse has to be the most boring way to go. Like what - one second you are there and then, bam, green light and you’re just gone? I’d rather be mauled to death by a bear or something.”

“Why?” She wondered, almost regretting having asked as soon as the question left her lips. “Perfect? I really don’t think any of these set ups are meant to be perfect, and believe me, I’m far from it.”

“my brother knocked me out and somehow found a way to get me out of there.” saying it out loud should have made him feel better but it didn’t. “I actually wanted to stay.” 

“Vale did that?” So he did have redeeming qualities, it always surprised her to hear such things, maybe because they didn’t happen often. “You didn’t want him to get you out because of Roxanne.” She said matter of factly after having placed the pieces of the puzzle together. “You wanted to stay with her, am I correct?”

“You just found them?” Her mind quickly jumped to the Huffleppuffs are good at finding things joke, but she bit her tongue to refrain from saying it. “I’d love to see them,” she said, closing the book with one sway of her hand. “As long as we don’t poison ourselves, of course.”
