Bonjour, I'm creating this tumblr to host some post about facts on France and French poeple, French culture. It would most certainly focus on social and cultucal aspect, but also so trivia and facts about an everyday life in France. All of this is 100% based on my own experience and reading, and would probably be so pretty subjective. I don't mean to have the absolute knowledge of course xD Feel free to send me a private message to discuss a topic more directly or send ask to request a topic and/or share your own point of view and experience! You can you use both French and English with me, I'm your host, M! 😊

As it's busy time lately, I gonna post something quick about: hairdresser.
Once again, what I write is subjective, which means it's based on my own experiences and watching, but if you come to Paris or around and need a hairdresser..
Avoid at any price the French hairdressing salon.
Why? Because of a simple, yet sad fact: French can't quite understand how other than white people hair works.
may your hair be super straight, thick and dense, you sure they wouldn't make it right.
Talking about three experiences.
1- My friend has that kind of thick and dense hair and often come to cut it at a salon around there.
last time. Basically, he wants a "bowl cut" to then stylish it himself as a two-block cut, because first of all, hairdresser doesn't know what is a two-block cut, and second of all, because they are unable to do so. Results? He ends up with feminine-too short cut, strand shorter than other, making it everything but a bowl cut..
2- I have in the salon for a bleaching myself, and I was waiting the thing turns my head a blondie. I saw that Asian girl entering the salon.
You have to know I live near an university and there's a lot of foreigner students (especially Asians). So, as she was asking for what she wanted, I heard what she said. Basically, cutting a bit the hair but have it still long enough to tie it in a tail..
Easy? No way. She ends up with the straight cut, but not even straight.. How to say that clearer..
They took the hair, they took the scissors, they cut the lower part and that's it. and too short for the poor girl to tie it up.
She was too shy to say anything, but still remarks that it was a bit short.
The hairdresser said that yes, it was what she asked, and sure now she can't toed it lol.
The girl let it go and went away. I really felt like punching someone..
3- My own experiences: Last Thursday, Ibwent to bleach again my hair, getting the root becoming too big. And I also felt like recutting my hair in a hairstyle I felt like trying since a long time (see the black hair model)
So I show her this. And specify it was a male hairstyle, not female (this gonna come in a futur article but French are really.. urgh, whatever but the men here have either very short hair, or long but with beard. But I'm hairless dude and so eh I can grow beard.)
So seeing this, she was like yeah okay.
I specify I already had had a bad experience with someone cutting it like a 'bowl'in the back and letting long bangs on the front.. making it looked like the basic Karen bitch (Karen is the name used to call any very annoying customer that asks for manager in USA culture, but it enlarges to wwhoever is a pain in the ass about anything and keeps complaining they are more worthy than other or that they would not wear a mask because Indont even know why 🙄)
And she was like "Eew gross".
Bitch..?
You? Am I a jock to you?
You can see the result before my own recut and after. For gods sake, she got nerves to tell me the result and the model I show were the same things. IT'S NOT EVEN THE SAME LENGTH?!
All Inasked was a basic, kinda long bowl cut, getting a bit upward in the back shaved on the nape and that's it??
Conclusion: I don't know if it's the same in all the hairdresser salon, but I know all the nonwhite people I know are going in salon run by people from their community.

Here I share the first post about what to know and other tips before visiting Paris!
Let’s start soft with the basic, trains 😊
I'll talk only about what I myself know, so here the trains.
In Paris you have three different categories of train-like transportation. I personally avoid using bus in Paris since the circulation is really messy most of the time.
1- So first, RER, those are trains that came from one, two or sometimes three different cities - from suburb around Paris -, that meet up along the line at some point, cross all Paris and ends in other suburb cities in the the other side of the capital.
The different RER are named with letters, A, B, C, D and E.
Those cross from west to east, north to south, yadda yadda.
It's useful if you live outside of Paris and need to go to the city and also useful to go through the city quickly.
2- The second term is basically just "train", what is called train here is the same thing as RER, going from outside of Paris, crossing the city and ending up the other side. The difference between the two is really not relevant 🙄
3- Metro, (the metropolitan) is one of the most famous transportation in Paris and pretty old transportation, the first appeared around the 1900's.
There're 16 different lines, named with numbers: 1, 2, 3, 3 bis, 4, 5, 6, 7, 7 bis, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14.
Those work like bus but under the ground lol (basically a subway).
Those link inner stations through Paris quickly, it's very useful for short and/or long travel.
And it's a good alternative in your travel if you are tired or lazy to walk! 😂
Other tips: plan your travels ahead, on google, there's a "Google map" that is really useful to guide you through the best route (for both walking or using trains).
So even if you are lost, using it would lead you to where you are planning to go.
Also, know that there's always a metro station around, if you have no internet or battery in your phone, you can always find a train station in the main avenue and road, walk through the larger roads and you'll find one, and there's map of Paris and train at every station 😉
(Example of the basic map of RER, Trains (T) and Metro (M) in Paris)
I hope it may help some of you around there, I still have some topics in mind I think it's important to share, but it gonna be kinda more serious and social/cultural topics 😕
