If you could live with only one utensil, what would it be?
After many experiences of not having utensils on hand, I suddenly thought of what I would do if I could carry only one utensil around with me.
In my opinion, I think chopsticks could suffice. I also thought spork, but that felt too easy to me (yes, I know that sounds quite irrational).
I’ve used chopsticks since I was really young, and while I struggled immensely initially, I practically use chopsticks for everything - except for consuming soup. In the case I do drink soup, I would probably just drink from the bowl/cup and eat the solid pieces with my chopstick.
I just find chopsticks quite nice since you can kind of cut things by splitting open a chunk of food through brute force. You can also stab things with the chopstick and eat it skewer-style (though, this may look bad if you consider superstitions). Or, you can just eat things the traditional way by picking up food in between the two sticks.

When the snow melts, spring comes!
Fruits Basket (Honda Tohru/Kana Sohma)
Happy Spring~ 3/20/22 is officially the spring solstice, and I always remember this quote from Fruits Basket when spring rolls around.
I’ve always loved how Fruits Basket had characters named after snow and spring - Yuki and Hatsuharu (Haru).
It ties in this quote so well because of the personalities of Yuki, who seems cold but really is lost and sometimes lonely. In reality, he’s really kind and puts in all his effort to move forward in life, trying to seek freedom, independence, and meaning in his life as he slowly learns to be free from the things that once weighed him down.
As for Haru, he also seems cold, a little rebellious looking here and there because of his fashion sense. But, as Rin says, Haru (or spring) is always so nice and is a comfort for her as someone who shuts out the whole world from being involved in her life for the sake of not adding onto everyone’s burdens.
Both Yuki and Haru are beautiful and amazing characters, especially since we get to see Yuki’s character blossom as he matures and becomes wiser throughout the series. They both differ from the impressions their names give off, and this just goes to show how everyone, similar to the seasons, can progress and change into something beautiful.

Halfway through I want to eat your pancreas, I suddenly questioned if the male lead’s name was ever mentioned, but I really thought I accidentally just missed it and proceeded with the movie hoping his name would come up soon.
I honestly find the theme of names in I want to eat your pancreas absolutely so beautifully conveyed, and this movie hit so close to home because of how much I resonated with it.
When people actually called me by my unconventional and hard-to-pronounce name for the first time, I’ve always had this indescribable feeling hearing my name actually being called. And this movie...I was struck with an epiphany of finally understanding this clouded feeling I’ve always had for the first time after so long.
Sakura pointed out to Haruki that the reason behind him never wanting to call people by their name and, likewise, no one calling him by his name, was that he took names as holding value to others.
Whenever someone actually learns my name and calls me, I feel acknowledged, and this extends to other thoughts such as realizing that I actually am relevant in someone’s life as their friend or classmate.
My default thinking to people I don’t know well yet is that they don’t think of me often and that learning my name is kind of at the bottom of their priorities. I’ve honestly grown to be comfortable with people not knowing my name, but I always appreciate and remember the ones that do learn and know my name.
I never expected this theme of the value of names to come up in this movie, because I heard it was a good romance and slice-of-life movie, but there’s so much complexity and rich emotions in this movie (along with the absolutely breathtaking animation) that made me fall in love with this movie. (I highly recommend watching - it’s a fan-favorite amongst those that watched Your Name and Your Lie in April!)
