I know we all know that Qimir is a simp for Osha, but I don’t think we’ve all realized how extremely horrendously viciously down bad he actually is.

Bc this scene is so interesting, right? I need you all to let it sink in that Qimir had all the opportunity here post-Sol to rush to his ship and far away from Vernestra as he possibly could, he had ample time to escape this planet, especially since he technically had no reason to stay.

But nah. Instead of escaping from the Jedi and Vernestra, Qimir still turned to find Osha considering that she rejected his offer of being his pupil twice and he came back for her anyway.

Robby doesn’t tell anybody about the cancer, not you, not Jack, not anyone.

If he doesn’t talk about it isn’t real, so he keeps it bottled up inside safely where it belongs. He books an impromptu weekend away at the cabin and spends the entire time wrapped up in the two of you, making the most of your time together.

He sits on the porch watching you and Jack in the lake, the prosthetic residing alongside Robby as you splash water and chase each other. Jack’s always had great upper body strength but you run pool drills for those times that a more complex rescue is needed. It makes for excellent competition.

“You aren’t going to join us old man?” Jack calls out, droplets speckling in his burnished silver curls as you submerge yourself trying to hide from Jack.

“No.” Robby smiles as he sips from his coffee cup. “I just want to watch.”

The truth is he’s tired and more than a little nauseous from the chemo tablets. He sleeps the entire way back to the city, his head resting on your shoulder in the backseat.

It’s Jack that finds the pills. He’s unpacking from the trip when he finds them tucked away in the zip up pocket of Robby’s backpack. He strides into the kitchen to confront him while you’re out picking up groceries.

“How long have you known?” He asks his lover as the two of them sit at the kitchen table. “Weeks, months?”

“Weeks…” Robby says quietly, his hands clasped together unable to look at Jack. “The work I did in Katrina, there were a lot contaminants in the water, it got into my kidneys…”

They saw a lot of that after Katrina, rescue workers developing illnesses further down the line. Jack had thought that they were clear of it, that Robby was one of the lucky ones, but he was wrong.

“Anna?” He rasps and Robby shakes his head.

“She’s happy Jack.” He says, his voice breaking as he finally looks up at meets the other man’s eyes. There’s so much anguish in him, so much agony. “I can’t take that away from her. I can’t-”

“Robby.” Jack says firmly, reaching across the table to interlace their fingers. “You are not alone in this, you have to tell her because if she finds out some other way like I did…”

Jack purses his lips together grimly but the implication is there. They’ll lose you; he just knows it. Secrets were the whole reason you left Chicago, why you found it so hard to trust once you’d settled here in Pittsburgh.

“I just need time.” Robby whispers, squeezing Jack’s hand as he chases away the tears that glisten underneath his eyes. “I just need a little more time.”

researching 17th century piracy tonight. came across this:

One popular pastime amongst pirates was the mock trial.  Each man played a part be it jailer, lawyer, judge, juror, or hangman.  This sham court arrested, tried, convicted, and “carried out” the sentence to the amusement of all. (x)

how widespread could this have really been? how would it have gotten passed from ship to ship? can you imagine a pirate crew at a tavern, bragging to another pirate crew about how good they are at playing pretend? why was their go-to game “legal system”? were they performing incisive satire? is this some sort of pirates-only inside joke that’s been lost to the ages?

All content through Chapter 6! It's likely that I will continue to make corrections and even some addendums (flavor-text and the like), but it's all there content-wise.

Some corrections to grammar, code, and the like (corrections are still ongoing from earlier chapters).

Patch in Chapter 5 for Zahn's moment with the MC before they split off for a bit.

New segment for the ending of Chapter 5 that fleshes out what was cut due to time constraints for the last update.

Several revelations.

703k Words including code and all variations, codex, etc... (The previous demo contained around 481942 words for perspective.)

A heartwarming reunion with your family and friends.

Two spicy moments with one demigod.

A mysterious fortune card (tarot) reading which changes depending on your choices.

Perhaps a little smooch from someone?

And probably a few bugs too...

I sincerely hope that you enjoy the next part of your journey. This chapter focuses on building your relationships to all of these ROs and giving your MC a bit of a break (but not too much of one). Events are still catching up to them and there's no shortage of things to worry about.

Chapter 7 will be written next and will be a little more linear, so my hope is to have it out before the end of the year.
