𝚃𝙷𝙴 𝚂𝙿𝙰𝙽𝙸𝚂𝙷 𝙿𝚁𝙸𝙽𝙲𝙴𝚂𝚂 𝙿𝚁𝙾𝙼𝙿𝚃𝚂.
these are taken from the starz show with the same title, triggers may be present, proceed with caution, feel free to adjust any you that you deem necessary.
why do you smile, your grace?
when one is king one dines for many reasons with many guests…
did you and the queen take all your meals in here?
i’m sorry. i do not wish to take your appetite.
i tried everything to warm her heart.
she was cold to you?
the battle for her heart was hard-won. winning the throne of [optional:place] was less arduous.
when did you know that she/he/they loved you?
shall i take the king/queen to be my husband/wife?
why don’t you speak to me?
go back to your mother. find another life.
why do you talk to me this way?
i don’t know what my choices are! i don’t know if i have a choice.
if your love is so fickle that it can blow away like dust… i will forget you.
you came to tell me you will fight for me. am i correct?
and you hate your father for stealing me away, and…
if i marry him, i condemn myself to a miserable, loveless life.
so you’re saying you must marry him because he said so.
i haven’t known as many women/men as you think and those that i have were of the flesh.
i mean, i… i want to… but- but the point is that- the point is that… that i love you.
you make me yearn to be king/queen so that i can be a better man/woman for you.
you are a wordsmith. you bend words to your whim.
a boy/girl kisses you, and everything i’ve taught you is undone.
the betrayal he/she/they will deal to you, it will break the world.
guard yourself! if you do not, the enemy will know just where to strike.
i have learned you have been banished from the court.
still, you have suffered for my benefit. i wish to make amends.
i want you to tell me what kind of husband/wife he/she would be.
he/she/they is clever and has a fevered lust for knowledge.
a man/woman with too much power and no discipline is dangerous.
i see another side to him/her/them.
he/she/they is like a knight of camelot, flawed, but also brave and dedicated. lancelot.
you clearly know your mind about him/her/them, so why ask me?
if you wish to be queen/king, then take the king/queen.
i think you rode here not just to ask for forgiveness, but to speak [optional:name] name aloud.
i think you love [optional:name]. may god help you if you do.
you are trained to be a queen/king. it is the way of kings and queens.
i cannot think of living here without you by my side.
i will not be the cause of your unhappiness.
you’re right. you’ve done too much for me.
are you to have two husbands/wives?
you’re lucky now to even make a queen/king.
you have permission for your marriage to the king/queen.
oh. but- but what has changed?
would i make you happy? would i make you as happy as your wife/husband did?
your heir will ensure the continued peace between our two kingdoms.
your loss has endeared you to the people. they share your grief.
you’ve had your courses for days, but you do not tell anyone.
it will be a modest life, not the one your parents planned for you.
do you even know if he/she/they wishes it? do you wish it?
you loved me [optional:name]. you still do.
my mother fought a battle while i was in her womb.
this sword is blunt. they both are. we wouldn’t want you cutting yourself.
oh, i could still hurt you with this.
you fight almost like a real soldier.
oh, all armor has weak spots. here. here. here.
what is this display? you dare swordplay with the heir?
you, put that down, and come with me.
you do know, i presume, the basic signs if you’re with child?
i have no talent for tricks, and i have no news for you.
i have no power to make her/him/them doubt her/his/their own mind.
if you speak too soon, you may make waves against yourself.
i do not grieve as they expect, and then i feel that i am wrong for being as i am.
i will sleep. you may tell me in the morning.
i am much better at that than you are, and i always will be.
i don’t want you to go.
i simply wanted you to know before i journey back to [optional:place].
will you have me?
it is a tragedy but our marriage was never consummated.
what are you playing at?
we made sounds of pleasure, yes, to cover our embarrassment.
i ask you to accept my word, accept it and support it if asked to do so.
who would ask such a thing?
oh, no. please tell me you’re not planning what i think you are.
so you’ve lost your husband/wife, but not your ambition. i warned you against that.
this family don’t inquire. they extract the answer they want.
my answer will support whatever keeps my conscience and my head attached to my neck.
how else do you imagine i’ve survived this long in this vipers’ nest?
is it foolish to believe myself in love with a man/woman whom i have never met?
hold your courage and fight for what you want.
this is a game that must be played.
am i so changed that we are no longer friends?
it’s clear evidence of her belief that you are weak.
please, for the love of god, i asked you here for peace.
oh, so you have lost your country too.
then pick your place, not theirs, [optional:sister/brother].
what happened to the sister/brother i once knew?
whatever awaits you in this life, fix your place in the heavens.
you once told me to fix my place in the stars and not be divereted.
i simply come to claim what is mine and i am fixed.
we loved our king/queen and that is why now we grieve.
i will take my sons/daughters and i will reclaim everything that is mine.
i trusted him/her/them and he/she/they betrayed me.
i will never trust again.
it was all bad breath, bad poetry and disappointment.
have you had anymore dreams?
i don’t want to know who dies next.
i ride to claim what is rightfully mine: my inheritance.
i will take what i’m owed in gold.
i will never give my power away.
i have eyes and ears all over the palace.
if you challenge me, i shall defeat you.
if you want him/her/them, say so.
[optional:name], i need to tell you, i love you.
i feel a strong desire to embrace you.
there is still a dangerous ride ahead.
are you not coming with me?
tell me, are you afraid?
then you are a merciful to save life when others are too quick to take one.
i nearly took an arrow in the backside.
we do not get what we want in this life, [optional:name].
do you like it here? it’s cozy, isn’t it?
what’re you wearing that veil for? is it to stop [optional:name] from kissing you?
i’m glad that you want to kiss my neck.

𝐀𝐑𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐄𝐃 𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐑𝐈𝐀𝐆𝐄 𝐒𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄 𝐐𝐔𝐎𝐓𝐄𝐒.
All sentences were taken from different sources about romance, marriage and specially arranged marriage and what that entails. Mentions of affairs, mistresses, wedding ceremonies and medieval talks of what marriage entails follow. Change names, pronouns and locations however you see fit.
Marriage is a marriage, whether it is arranged or not. Both necessitate the same level of dedication.
It’s not an option to be best friends with your life partner; it’s a requirement for a firm foundation in a long-term relationship.
Arranged marriage is not always a bed of roses, but it is possible to achieve with love and faith.
It’s different for women, isn’t it? They have no choice where they go. They grow up in a prison and then get married into one.
Is there anything more courageous/stupid than saying yes to spend your life with someone you have no idea about?
The country was as much of a mystery to me as the man I had married.
One day you’ll be in love with me.
You could be a titled lady.
I have avoided the fate my father had planned for me. Surely it is I who has won, not he.
I do not care about power and wealth, father. I want to marry for love.
But if you were matched, what do you think she'd be like?
We're supposed to be unable to keep our hands off of each other.
In this case the time is not so important for me, the person asking for commitment is.
We are trapped by convention and must marry another.
Every good child knows: duty before your heart's desire.
I am to be a bride, but whose?
I married you to stop the bloodshed, and you keep killing. When will it be enough- when?
I found out soon after we met that Leah’s father had promised her in marriage to some young Pole.
If I ever get into an arranged marriage, I want it to be like theirs.
Arranged marriages require effort; constantly and every day. And where there is love, you want to make these efforts.
A successful arranged marriage can help climb the biggest mountain and build the biggest empire.
An arranged marriage is like wine; it tastes good with time.
You will marry him and do your duty to your House.
You are my daughter and you will do as I say. End of discussion.
Love? What does love have to do with marriage?
He'll honour his duty to family and swallow it.
I was three when my parents promised me. When a deal was struck.
So I was raised to be his wife. I was taught my favorite color was gold because his favorite color was gold. I was told my favorite foods were his favorite foods
I never thought what it would actually be like to have him... be gone.
I was raised for him, and now I am... new. I am brand-new. And I do not even know how to breathe air he does not exhale.
A bride at her second marriage does not wear a veil. She wants to see what she is getting.
Marriage is a financial contract; I have enough contracts already.
The dowry, not the wife, is the object of attraction.
Arranged marriages work like this. The girl is hardly asked and is expected to follow whatever her parents deem fit.
Marry, that marry is the very theme I came to talk of.
Maybe she'll be beautiful. Maybe she'll be rich. As long as she brings swords and men.
Perhaps love is a minor madness.
It doesn't matter who the seed is. The important thing is that it has a place in your womb.
Her maidenhood will seal an alliance and must be kept safe.
Every married woman knows a man can have mistresses and we must look the other way.
All I ask is, that you do not cast me aside. Have mistresses and lovers as you please, but confide in me as I am to be your wife.
A husband’s first and foremost job in a marriage is to protect and love his wife.
Touching without looking had been incredibly arousing.
In my opinion, most marriages are based either on money or the fear of being alone.
I want you in every way there is to want. I want you in any way you choose to share.
I'm free to do with my wife as I fucking please.
The marriage of convenience lasts until you become an inconvenience.
Ours is a marriage of convenience and nothing more.
From now on, you're sleeping in our room. There's no chance in hell I'm letting you sleep far away from me again.
You agreed to this marriage and didn’t even dare to ask my opinion on the matter.
You're going to bend, and so am I. We're going to compromise, negotiate, and distract each other.
Being together means our priorities are going to change.
Men marry because they are tired; women, because they are curious: both are disappointed.
I don't think I am likely to marry, Harry. I am much too in love.
It is certainly romantic to be in love, but there's nothing romantic about a definite proposal.
They are royals, whoever they marry is not their choice but who is better for the crown.
That is a match made in a boardroom.
Once you are wed to another, you will forget me.
I will marry a man who desires me but I have no interest in.
I will not be a secret kept in shadows. Once you are wed, I will leave.
How can I marry them, when I am in love with another? It is not fair to them, that I think of you when I’m with them.
Ever since I met you, no one else has been worth thinking about.
Behave yourself, out here, we are wed and what you do, reflects on me.
You are being sold like a mare and do not care.
Once I bore him a son, he shall be happy, I know it.
We hate one another but for peace, we must wed. At least, let us enjoy this part of the contract.
I am doing this for my family and for the terms you offer.
A marriage is simply an alliance.
All will be well, love can be found in a marriage. If not love, at least, good company.
Do your duty and give him sons. That’s all men want.
I will not be paraded around in a bedding ceremony. I will wed them and bed them, but I will not be humiliated.
You think this title gives me power, but you forget, I am a woman.
I am lucky enough to have options. None who please me but at least, I can choose one.
Come to bed now, husband. It is our wedding night, after all.

𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐒𝐄 𝐎𝐅 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐃𝐑𝐀𝐆𝐎𝐍 𝐒𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐎𝐍 𝟐 𝐄𝐏𝐈𝐒𝐎𝐃𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐑𝐄𝐄: 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐁𝐔𝐑𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐌𝐈𝐋𝐋 𝐐𝐔𝐎𝐓𝐄𝐒.
All sentences are taken from HBO's House of the Dragon season two third episode, the burning mill. Change names, pronouns, locations as you see fit. Caution for foul language, implied death of a child, sexual acts implied and everything that is associated with A Song of Ice and Fire.
The Blackwoods and the Brackens have feuded for centuries. This is nothing more than an excuse for them to indulge their ancient grudge. It's no true war.
Call it what you will. I call it war. And so will Dragonstone.
The young men have taken the bit in their teeth. They wish to punish, to avenge.
Soon they will not even remember what it was that began the war in the first place.
That is easy enough. They usurped my throne.
hat is one answer. Or was it when the child was beheaded? Or when Aemond killed Luke? Or when Luke took Aemond's eye? We teeter now at the point where none of it will matter. And the desire to kill and burn takes hold and reason is forgotten.
When last we met, Alicent said I would make a fine queen. You've seen what has happened since then.
There is no war so hateful to the gods as a war between kin. And no war so bloody as a war between dragons.
I, Ser Simon Strong, castellan of Harrenhal, pledge fealty to Rhaenyra of House Targaryen, First of Her Name.
We watched the tourney together, you and I, the day my brother was born.
Rhaenys has counseled me. She said she saw in you a wish to avert the worst of what may now come.
My dragons are restless. They smell battle. But if you and I may come to terms...
There are no terms now. You have no army, your allies turn from you when they hear of your depravity, your hands are bloodied in a crime I could never have imagined you...
I am a mother too and you have yet to answer for the murder of my son.
Of course, you do. And the usurping of my rightful inheritance? Have you now stooped so low that you will countenance the suffering and death of thousands, in order that your feckless son.
Oh, so you say. And so your father has proclaimed to the realm. I saw the king that night. Mere hours before I left him, he had affirmed my right to the throne.
We march on King's Landing and take the throne.
Might I ask, your Grace, if you are successful — well, when you are successful — what then?
I feel sad about Jahaerys, but I ought not to, I think. People die all the time, especially babes.
My father loved me, Alicent, and I believe he loved you too.
Perhaps the presence of the Crown — and a dragon — will sharpen minds 'round these parts.
I have been at times unkind, but never untrue.
If war can be averted, it is my duty to avert it.
There’s been no mistake.
You will die in this place.
Otto Hightower would never have allowed this.
Alicent is in King's Landing. Her son sits my throne. There is nothing more to be said.
It is not her but the men around her who seek bloodshed.
The desire to kill and burn takes hold, and reason is forgotten.
Rhaena? Lord of the Tides?

my controversial take is that rhaegar and lyanna is a love story, or as love story can be in the setting we find ourselves. everyone in the realm thinks he kidnapped her and abused her and killed her in the end by leaving her alone, george is using the trope of "the princess and the dragon" tower included, where she has to be saved. but the truth is, the princess was not taken, but she went on her free will.
#✧ ( out ) / ・゚ no more winter .#i get that in book canon it all seems icky and gross due to ages#but show wise which my lyanna is more based in#she was not that young and she knew what she wanted

She is well aware that the King is after the mysterious knight, which is why she is now hiding all she can to avoid the persecution of the guards. But of course it had to be Jaime to found her, if it was someone else, they might had already taken her to the King but instead, it's Jaime who would rather toy with her over this than deliver her right away. And of course he has to bring Robert into the conversation when it comes to tattles tales.
"You think he would blame me rather than you? That man thinks I breathe gold everywher I go." Which might be an attractive quality if she didn't knew of how he often flirt with other girls or bed them, already with a bastard in the Vale. He claims to love her but there he was, being a drunken man whose eyes wander, how can she trust him when he does such a thing? Lyanna is distracted by her thoughts until the crown is pushed away from her head, the vines pulling loose curls from it and she looks at him.
"Are you always this annoying?" She mutters in turn, jumping on her toes highter to reach the shield but she loses her balance in the process. Good. At least if someone ends up hurt for this it's him as she feels her own fall stopped by his body, her hand already feeling the wood of the shield, just above out of reach. "Give me the shield. Or I will fight you for it."
ㅤㅤㅤA YOUNG KNIGHT SHOULDN'T BE SO EAGER TO SPITE HIS KING, but he thought it rather unfair that he should be sent away from a tourney partly meant to celebrate his new station. Already life as a kingsguard is proving to be not quite what he thought it would, and he's had his white cloak for less than a day. Aerys would expect him to leave like a good little knight, but Jaime has other ideas. Why shouldn't he enjoy himself? He could wear the Lannister plate and cover his head and no one would notice his presence. But he quickly learned he was not the only one skulking about where he shouldn't. The sigil upon the shield is recognized; this tree that he'd heard the king screaming about, insistent that it was Jaime himself, come back to taunt him for whatever reason. Well, Aerys is half right in that Jaime has returned, but wrong about who hid beneath the helm and shield.
ㅤㅤㅤ❝ The King is rather cross with the knight who bore this sigil this evening. He's even offered a bounty for the one that can bring them to him. ❞ Emerald eyes are filled with mischief beneath twisted brows; a lion's grin across the young man's features, cattish and far too amused for his own good. ❝ Maybe it should be me. Any good knight of the Kingsguard should be diligent against his king's nuisances. ❞ Oh, he couldn't turn her in himself; Aerys would only take it as a ploy and confirm his own paranoia, and in truth, Jaime has no desire to give her away. What she did was quite brave. And the most entertaining thing he's seen in a long, long time. Her grip on his wrist surprises him with the strength that comes from such a small woman, feet planting as muscles stiffen to keep the shield from her reach, passing it from one arm to the next. ❝ Don't be so quick to tattle, ❞ Jaime tsks. ❝ You think your pig-headed betrothed will react well if he hears that you had another man in your tent? People love to talk about these things, you know, and when they talk, they won't be saying that we were fighting over a shield. We'll both be in deep shit. ❞ His grin deepens, devilish in how his eyes bore into hers, a hand slipping through their battling arms to purposefully knock the crown of roses off from Lyanna's head. ❝ Oops. ❞

"You can't keep that." She had been burning and hiding everything that related to the Knight armor she done when she entered the tournament under a secret identity. No one was meant to caught her, but then, all eyes were on her for a different matter; Prince Rhaegar's crown of blue roses is still in her head as she makes sure that the armor is gone before someone finds out and she is scolded for dressing up or even injuring a lord's ego by being defeated by a woman. But of course it had to be Jaime Lannister who finds her in the midst of her adventure, lifting the shield she had used. "Give it back, Jaime."
Forgotten was the use of titles as she reaches for the taller's man' extended arm where she cannot touch the shield without leaving no room between one another. "You are behaving like a child." Annoyance lace in her tone as she tries against, capturing his wrist but not enough but at least he cannot move it away from her. "Give it back and I won't tell anyone that a kingsguard is on a lady's tent when she is without her chaperones." An empty threat really, because most knew she was capable of taking care of herself. But still. @dcviline ft. jaime.

Reason tells her to not let him have this. She had been clear that first day, has he not? He should not play with fire, specially when he has a wife and she is to wed a man like Robert Baratheon, who would raise an army for her if she asked him to. A dangerous man to have as a husband, and yet, she is here, doing the dance of swords because he allows her to be herself, practice what she learned. Her breathing is ragged when he asks her to yield and she takes in the opportunity to look back at him and she sees the hesitation. Lyanna shows a triumphant smile in turn, breathing heavily once he yields and she wins. What she said next matters so little, a mocking of a little lady like herself defeating the Silver Prince of the realm.
She lowers her sword and in turn, she is met with his lips pressing on her own and she finds herself breathless in that single moment. Her breathing quivers as he pulls away, eyes taking their time to open again and find his own. "You ruined this the moment you placed that crown in my head." He shouldn't have done that. He shouldn't have insisted she wore it, or meet her under the weirdwood tree. She shoul've said no when he request a dance of swords at hours that would be improper. Only his friend Ser Arthur seems to be vigilant and he does not bother them.
"Why did you do that? Now you will make it impossible to think of anything else." Lyanna speaks with the voice of a maiden. She had not kissed any men before. Her first one stolen by the prince. Now he has that place in her lips and heart. Grey eyes look back at him. but she doesn't move away. "I do not understand you."

ㅤㅤㅤTHERE IS NO HARM IN FRIENDLY COMPETITION, OR SO THEY HAD AGREED. They are both warriors, trading tricks as their swords dance playfully, metal singing into the air with each clash of blunted steel. Him, a seasoned warrior, a prince trained by the finest in the land, and her, with the spirit of a true knight, defying the expectations placed upon her for being a woman. Lyanna is a beauty, so fair that even the crown of winter roses he'd given her pales in comparison to the woman herself, yet there is iron in her wild spirit. He understands Robert Baratheon now, for how could any man come in contact with that fire within her and not crave to be near it again?
ㅤㅤㅤHe has her beaten this round, or so he thinks, sword held across her throat as he stands at her back. ❝ Yield, my lady. This round is mine. ❞ It's a courtly mercy, the opportunity for an honorable surrender, but she yields not. Instead those eyes of iron peer over her shoulder, his gaze enraptured by them, more so with how he feels her hot breaths as they wisp against his neck. This is his undoing. She must have noticed him falter, felt how his sword began to slip away, for with a single spin she reverses their circumstances, her blade now poking into his side. Now it is Rhaegar who must yield, and he does so with a wide grin. ❝ Fine, I yield to you. But I had you first. ❞
ㅤㅤㅤHe barely hears the taunts that follow, focused on the teasing fingers that press under his jaw, how close she stands to him as she gloats in her victory over the prince. Mocking him, taunting him, yet all he can think of is how beautiful she looks like this, that spirit of hers shining in her eyes and in her words. Rhaegar watches her lips, sees how they move, how plush they look as she speaks. What madness is this that overcomes him, he wonders, as he leans to press his own lips upon those soft, taunting features. Oh, she's bound to kill him for this, but there are worse ways to die. ❝ I'm sorry. I couldn't help it, ❞ the prince whispers, barely able to pull away. Already he braces for a strike, or for her to yell at him, some rebuke against what he's done. ❝ Do you hate me for it? For ruining this? ❞

"do you not consider me worth of being queen of love and beauty?" she jest, trying to sway on his foul mood, perhaps in vain but she has to try. ned said it was best she did so instead of him. she is sure he is around somewhere with lady ashara and for that, she must deal with her half drunk betrothed. "my honor thanks you, but it is untouched. and unbothered by this. I told the prince himself what he did was not honorable to his wife." the prince spoke in riddles too and uneasy charm but she tries to focus her attention back in the present. "well perhaps then, you should leave the ale tomorrow and dance with me at the feast. prove that his actions are of no consequence.
you do pay more attention to the ale and other ladies than myself." hard to trust him with his love when his eyes wander so much and yet, his words speak of possessiveness. she is to be married to a man of volatile temper, first men blood and some dragon in there was a bad combination. gods above, if she were to have children with him, they would be wild as both of them.
"I am aware of your bastard daughter, robert. and perhaps more to come. all I ask is that while you do not trust the prince's actions, trust my own." simple. easy. if his love is so true then, he can let this go and leave the rest of harrenhal be a feast. "and. . .would a kiss keep your mind off these business?" a kiss. a maiden's kiss. mother would have been proud, father too, acting like a lady, offering her favor to her betrothed. she can be a lady when she wishes to. "if so, I will grant you one."
a loud scoff sounds from the baratheon man. " kind, " the word drips like venom from his tongue. he tips back his mug of ale and roughly wipes away the liquid that latched on to his beard. what rhaegar had done at the tourney was quite the scandal. each person he passed afterwards had been whispering about it and every time robert thought about it, he could not help the wave of anger that overtook him. even now, as lyanna tries to defend his cousin. it would not surprise him if rhaegar did it just to annoy robert. and it certainly had.
" i would have if i knew i would not lose my head for it, " he mutters in response. there is a part of him that wants to reprimand her for commanding him but instead, he simply grunts and allows her to take the mug from him. " he has a wife and you are to be married. he knows the implications of his actions. " robert did not know this in truth, but he was hot-headed enough to assume as much.

"rude to stare at a lady for so long. you are shameless, robert." but lyanna is a young woman, despite her own words about her displeased feelings regarding the betrothal with robert, lyanna is not unaffected when he approaches her. hands stop on his chest when he pulls her closer, eyes open wide, shaking her head. "shameless, like I said. we are not wed yet." she points out, a shy smile gleaming through at the compliment. how silly, to be called beauty when she is recognized for everything but her beauty. but does he consider her spirit the same? lyanna is not a woman to be locked in a castle and made to live there as only a wife. "you admire many beauties, or so I hear. how can I be sure you are not just swaying your charms with me as well?"
You're still looking. - for robert
sensual and sexual tension quotes / accepting ! / @ulvblod
robert cannot help the amused snort that sounds from him, his gaze finally finding her own. he was not ashamed of being caught staring. it was no secret that robert longed for the woman before him. in fact, he had made his affections undoubtedly clear. " what of it ? " he approaches her now and stops only when they are a few inches apart from one another. there was something about her that he could not place ; that made her stand apart from the rest. he toys idly with the ends of her hair before a hand is placed upon her waist. without wasting another moment, he pulls her body flush against his own. " is beauty not to be admired ? "

"the prince was just being kind." lyanna speaks back to robert. the silence that had been felt around harrenhal when rhaegar passed by his wife and left the crown of roses upon her lap was still ringing on her ears. the gasps of some, the surprise of others. her brothers had been a mixture of offended and surprised while robert. well, she does not know robert as well as her brother does, but it was obvious.
"for a moment ned said he thought you would had attacked the prince then." and she has no doubts about it. it felt wrong at times, hypocritical almost, he had a bastard daughter already, what guarantee she has he won't stray from her bed besides his word? regardless, her hand moved to stop his drinking. "that's enough ale for today." @ironf0rged
