The nature of a man, from my own experiences, tends to be swayed with reassurance, communication, food, love with physical contact(personal preference) and an immense amount of emotional support....And food, very good food too.

If you don't give that, expect his nature to be swayed in a negative manner. But it needs to be reciprocal to me. People are gardens: Take care of each other, and you will flourish, even in the worst weather. Not taking care of each other leads to decay.
