Will’s love for Mike is one of the deepest kinds of love there is.

Will roots for Mileven and fixes their relationship, sacrificing himself.

People are like “omg he’s so selfless, he deserves the world.” Which is 100% true, but I just thought of it in a deeper way: (I’m sure I’m not the first one to think of it like this, but it’s overwhelmingly heartbreaking, so I need to write about it.)

Will says what he says in the van- about Eleven needing Mike- because he wants Mike to know that he is needed. He says that El loves him because he wants Mike to know that he is loved.

Will wants Mike to be loved, and since he’s not supposed show it through himself, he makes sure that Mike feels it but through Eleven.

Will can’t give Mike love, so he gives Mike love through Eleven, because he loves Mike and wants Mike to be loved.

I think that if Mike didn’t have Eleven, Will would do anything to make that boy feel loved, but just not by him.

Okay, so…. I have a point to make:

If Mike doesn’t know that Will is in love with him, then Byler is canon.

If Mike does know that Will is in love with him, then Byler is canon.

Here’s why:

Everyone knows will is gay. If Mike doesn’t know, then that means Mike doesn’t see Will how everyone else sees Will. Mike thinks that Will is normal. What does normal mean? Like everyone else. So Mike thinks that Will is like everyone else, but everyone else thinks Will isn’t like them. So basically, this means that ‘everyone else’ is Michael Wheeler. Therefore, since he thinks that Will is normal, he thinks that he himself is normal because he is the same as Will. (Gay. Not to say that gay isn’t normal, it just wasn’t normalized.)

If Mike does know that Will has a crush on him, then, OMFG. He wants to be around Will, who he knows has a crush on him, and continues to smile at and apologize to Will to make sure that Will likes him. Any other person who doesn’t want to date their best friend would make sure that their best friend stops liking them.

So basically, no matter what Mike knows, that is proof that Byler is canon.

Just thinking about the scene where Dustin, Lucas, and Mike get pulled out of the AV room to talk to police, and Dustin and Lucas are arguing at some point, and Mike is just sitting in between them, staring at the floor. Looking absolutely depressed. Fucking empty.

They’re asking the kids about Will, and Mike is glaring at the floor because holy shit, his best friend isn’t at school and no one knows where he is.

Lucas and Dustin are arguing about something that doesn’t fucking matter, because Will is gone, and nothing matters more than that.

Okay, about “El x that girl who flirted with Will”…. Bro idc how random this is, I have a whole headcanon about their relationship and am now obsessed with them - the girl’s name is Claudia but El calls her “Claud”, and she calls El “J” because she knew her as Jane. Claudia stands up for El all the time and they are in a qpr (queer-platonic-relationship) because there’s not really any canon aroace rep in tv shows so I’m making my own. :) ✨✨ El is very protective of Claudia, and reluctantly (because she doesn’t want to pull Claudia into the danger of knowing about Papa and what he does) opens up to her about her powers. Overall, their relationship is a secret, and they don’t make it official until after El breaks up with Mike (Eleven doesn’t make any moves on Claudia because she’s not a cheater, but she does realize that she has strong feelings for the girl, so that’s also one of the reasons she wants to break up with Mike).

This one isn’t really a headcanon because it’s more of an analysis, but Mike is definitely gay. I post the reasoning behind this a lot, on many different platforms.
