Muroo Saisei & Hagiwara Sakutarou’s Friendship

So I decided to translate a passage from the book 『文豪たちの友情』/ “The Friendships Of Authors” by Ishii Chiko for my dear friend and fellow appreciator of all things Sakutarou @suteki-naifu for their birthday. 

It’s a short account of Saisei and Sakutarou’s lives and their relationship with both each other and other Japanese authors of the time period from a scholar in the field. Whether you’re a fan of the characters from Bungou to Alchemist who are based off the real life authors, or a fan of Japanese literature in general, it’s an interesting read that presents information in an informative yet entertaining fashion. So I decided to share it publicly as well.

Please keep in mind this:

1. Is a very long post.

2. Contains very rough literal translations of poetry (while rendering things written in Japanese into English is something I can do, preserving the beauty and lyrical flow of poems from one language to the other is not) and older Japanese rendered into modern English instead of older English.    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
