I have been thinking a lot about our collective anxiety, whatever apocalyptic version of the future we are anticipating, and I wonder how other generations of humans have managed this? It feels so out of our personal control as the firehose of information and culture keep accelerating and I find myself perpetually trying to catch/keep up and I know I cannot. What then should be our response? Praxis with hope: to embody, as best one can, empathy and community. As important as it is to empathize with someone suffering far away; embodying that empathy and working personally and locally for justice and relief of suffering puts a pause on the anxiety and reveals the systems of oppression that are at work in our lives and keep us distracted. Slow down, take a walk, contemplate. Be humble, be open, be kind.

When sorting through mounds of clothes that have been so generously given to us over the years, I keep adding to my mending pile; knowing that saving clothes from the landfill means something. Thank you #womenofthesouth who work for a pittance so I might adorn myself with your labour. I see you, I value your work, and hope to save it from the environmental atrocities that we are all living every day. #halfthesky #gdpforalllabour #oikos #sexworkiswork #whomakesyourshirt

I have remembered why you should have all your ingredients at room temperature: the melted butter congeals in the cold milk and eggs. #crêpes #sorted

The calm of January 5, 2018... before the storm of the start of the semester January 8. This is my favourite floor of Morisette (the main library at the University of Ottawa), it is a quiet floor, but you can drink and eat (cold foods only!). 21 days to go until my NCLEX. I am grateful that I can still log onto the wifi network, even though I graduated in May... :)

This is how I study, after becoming a mother of three: in very short bursts with whatever supplies I have on hand that can be stashed away at a moment's notice. No fancy highlighters or pens, no journals, paper that is probably 20 years old (hence the yellowing). So here is to all the parents out there who find the time to study during baby naps, kids in bed or at the park, etc. It's tough, and I am only seven weeks into parenthood...but I persevere! :)

Day 4/100 of 100 days of productivity & 362/365 days to NCLEX How to create a good clinical day: runner's compression stockings; bringing your own food and cutlery (healthier and cheaper); emergency protein bar; and, thermos mug to pretend that you can keep coffee hot for 9ish hours. Off to the hospital to prepare! BTW, tomorrow is a write off as I am doing an evening shift: read, therefore not home until 22:30 at the earliest. Then, I am getting up at 04:30 to be at work for 06:00 and work a full day at a race. Points for productivity: having a bag packed now for tomorrow.

Day 3/100 of 100 days of productivity & 363/365 to NCLEX A picture of my second A&P textbook that I donated yesterday as I am still working on my care plan. I know a lot more about liver function tests and am starting to watch videos on YouTube, no, not those ones, but the ones that will actually help me revise, e.g., MedCram, while I am eating and can't take notes. Off to prepare for clinical!

So true! I know how impaired I get without enough sleep. Also, I love naps, even just 20 minutes can make all the difference.
PLEASE STOP GLORIFYING ALL-NIGHTERS. STOP MAKING "I WAS UP ALL NIGHT" AN ACHIEVEMENT. SLEEP IS IMPORTANT (ESPECIALLY FOR STUDENTS)! SLEEP, PEOPLE!
Even if it’s not a full 8-hour cycle, please sleep.

Day 2/100 of days of productivity & day 364/365 coundown to NCLEX This was my first A&P textbook from ten years ago. It survived a lot of squished fruit at the bottom of backpacks. It will now be donated to a collection box for libraries and students in other parts of the world who want to study health sciences. While going through it, to rid it of random tape flags and bits of paper, I tried to imbue it with my best wishes and hope and became quite nostalgic flipping through the pages I studied so long ago. Worked on my care plan (again, the reason why you are not looking at my notes: confidentiality), started in on my evaluation (an extremely long self-evaluation of my clinical performance) and spent a lovely half hour going through NCLEX questions realizing that I do know some things well and others...well, that is why I am studying now and not the week before.

Day 1/100 of days of productivity & 365/365 countdown to NCLEX I managed to get my third reflective note done, start in on my care plan and review some anatomy. I cannot show any notes as that would/could be a breech of confidentiality. Best bargain: $1 anatomy colouring book from a garage sale...be trendy and study at the same time. Off for a walk before the new day begins.

Not that I am expecting huge things: I have a PhD in Procrastination, but I am always battling against it and as a student nurse I do not have time to procrastinate anymore! So thank you elizastudies for the format. Let’s get to it!
#100 days of productivity.
100 days of productivity
hey guys! some of you may have noticed that lately I have been posting daily pictures with a concept called 100 days of productivity. at first, this was just a method I was using to keep myself on track, but after receiving multiple messages either asking permission to use the idea or asking to explain the idea, I’ve decided to make a post to explain this and hopefully get other blogs in on it!
what is it about?
the general idea of 100 days of productivity is to make sure that everyday you do something- anything productive. it embraces the concept that by chipping away at least a little bit of that big pile of work we all have every day, we can make huge changes for the future.
how can I join?
its simple! just post a picture everyday with which day it is out of 100 (ex: 3/100 days of productivity) and tag it as 100 days of productivity. keep this going for 100 days straight and see how much you’ve accomplished!!
help get the word out!!
reblog this post to help let other studyblrs know about this idea!! as I really would like this to get out there, I will be following many of the people I see using this tag!!
disclaimer: I am not claiming to be the first person to use this concept. I did not steal this idea from anyone and did come up with it on my own, but I have also been made aware that others have used this idea before!!
happy studying everyone!!

Hey guys! These are 7 (technically 8) tips on how to get straight A’s! I’m sorry for the mistakes — ONE: the tip “Some Study Methods” should actually be number 7, not number 1 hehe. TWO: in tip number 6, “Doing your homework”, it says ‘always remember tip number 6!’ what I mean is *always remember tip number 5!* STUDYBLRS — reblog this for a possible follow hehe (see tip 3). Anyway this whole thing took me HOURS. Hopefully it helps someone! ily all & good luck!
