Experience in the field
I have spent a year working freelance as a content creator/ videographer- planning, directing, shooting and editing short video productions for various clients, such as AlphaUK (https://www.instagram.com/p/CNKOwlMiY1t). Having some experience working in this area, I have got an idea of what potential clients are looking for in someone to hire. Also based off of other websites I have found (next blog post) it is apparent that video producers are required to stand out boldly, showing creativity from the first page of their website- so I will be attempting to mimic this eye catching style in my own designs.

Site Research
Small Films’ website has exactly the layout I am after. While getting the right message across in text while being both video and image rich, the website effectively uses mixed digital media, while still showing professionalism of the brand. Small Films’ style consists of dark tones contrasted with pinkish red highlights to help navigation and direct the users eye around the sight with ease. www.smallfilms.com
The site provides good consistency of its logos, fonts and colour scheme across the site, also moving over to their social media and other media platforms; something that will be extremely important for my website, social media and brand.

Just discovered someone I follow on Instagram has their own media business and is basically living my dream. This websites about page is so so nice. If I had more time I would love to make similar sketches to theirs, definitely something I can work on later this year to develop my brand.

“A lot of video editing companies use video or animated backgrounds as a landing page or at the top of their home page to grab the audiences attention.”

Reaching out to industry
While taking on this module I undertook a editing competition to broaden my skills and look for improvement in my craft. A big YouTube creator called Kon allowed his followers to use his footage to edit together a video promotion for a clothing brand. I spent a couple days editing and animating the piece and got a response from Kon on Instagram- he said he loved how I incorporated my own footage in the advert, he mentioned that to improve I should work on my colour grading techniques for a more refined final look on the product. The piece is on my website but also can be found here:

Industry Role Research
In music-video production (pre & post production) there are numerous jobs needed to create a successful product. ‘EpicMusicVideos’ website goes through each of the individual components and job titles needed for a music video production; however as a freelancer I have and will fulfil all of these roles myself. However, in the future I expect I will be in need of hiring in people to take over several of these roles (hopefully with me being director!).
Pre-production roles include:
Director: The main responsibility of production.
Screen Writer: Responsible for coming up with a concept.
Storyboard Artist: They sketch key frames of the video from the provided script
Executive Producer: Pays for the entire cost of the video.
Producer: Purchases everything needed for the shoot, picking the right brands.
Location Scout: Locate various settings where the music video can be shot.
Lightning Designer: They look after the placement of lights for the entire video.
Production Assistant: Arranges for everyone and everything to be present at the right place and the right time.
Camera Operator: Actually shoots the video.
Camera Assistants: Assist the Camera Operator.
Lighting Technician: Responsible for taking care of all lighting needs.
Production Sound Mixer: Listens to the volume and different sounds on the set to mix and record them as required.
Post-production roles include:
Editor: Sits down with the Director to cut the final video.
Assistant Editor: Helps the Editor with the work.
VFX Team: Applies all necessary effects to the video.

Software
The web builder I will be using is Adobe Portfolio as it states it can provide easy web building with a collection of tools to showcase work effectively.
I felt this was a good choice as I make my work on other Adobe software such as Premiere Pro, After Effects and Photoshop. The Adobe suite as always been known to be rather unpredictable when it comes to lagging, bugs and crashing. On the other hand, Adobe is an industry standard when it comes to video production or graphic design, and I am accustomed to how the software operates from my time being at university and on my placement year so It feels a bit late to swap video editing suites now!

Industry Future Trends
With the rise of quick fast paced product marketing, I believe that video production, especially in the advertisement sector, will move it’s full attention to spaces and social platforms such as Tik Tok; or take hold of Instagram’s new function ‘Instagram Reels’. This use of short videos (no longer than 30 seconds) has become a worldwide phenomenon. However, to truly be successful these producers must know how to make their products engaging within the first 3 seconds, as research suggests this is a crucial duration to get someone's attention in 2021 with 8 seconds being how long you will actually have their focus for.

TXPSTUDIOS SOCIALS
Instagram: www.instagram.com/txpstudios
Facebook: www.facebook.com/txpstudios
Although Facebook has shown to be best suited for an older demographic, both these social networks are currently best for sharing video content.
Then obviously YouTube comes out on top. www.youtube.com/txpstudios

Bought my website domain on names.co.uk and linked it to Adobe Portfolio where I’m going to use their web builder to create my website. I’ve also got the email that comes with the domain: [email protected] to keep professional consistency.

Variations to a new logo idea. Sketch over my photo. Baskerville font (regular, size 73pt, spacing 480) Fish eye lens gives it more of a videographer/ camera feel. These work really nicely as circular profile pictures on social media.
