He was probably exaggerating just how bad his roommate was. Y'know, for effect. But it was troublesome when Stiles was attempting to study, to be constantly disturbed and interrupted. As a consequence, he spent a lot of time in the library, taking advantage of the peace and tranquility to power through his course work. The library was where he had been heading to when he bumped into Magnolia and as much as he knew he should probably still go there, the temptation of hanging out with an old friend was great. There would be time later. As long as he got there before it was closed for the day. Nodding, he gave her a wide smile. "Sure! Why not?" Besides, if she had consoles, then it was definitely worthwhile forging a friendship. "I'd love to!"

"He's still hanging around?" Stiles could pull his seatbelt over, but when he tried to clip it in and changed the position of his hand to do so, it snapped back again. A second attempt was no more successful and on the third, he jarred his injured wrist and let out a yelp. "Uh, sorry to be a pain, Ms McCall, but do you think you could help me out here?" Couldn't even get his seatbelt on. How pathetic was that?
Tumblr media
"You seem nervous, but if you say so." She didn’t comment any further as she climbed into the car, pulling her seat belt on. "Things have been… Alright, I guess. A few money issues, Rafael getting on my nerves, the usual." She shrugged, making a face. "Make sure to put your seat belt on." She added as she started the car.

Intimacy was not something Stiles knew a whole lot about, if he was being honest. While he wasn't really a kid any more, he didn't feel much like an adult either. At his age - nineteen - his father was in the army and it wasn't long after that he got married and Stiles came along. Maybe it was something to do with that weird unrealistic feeling that went along with Rapture. The natural order of things was completely out of whack and as a result, Stiles was in this state of limbo. He didn't know anyone his own age either, to ask them if they felt the same way. To be fair, aside from the ones with whom he came into regular contact, he didn't know many people at all. Pretty much no friends to speak of, so he certainly didn't have a chance to practice smooth talking. "Haaah, yeah well, I guess when you put it like that..." Relieved that he hadn't offended her, Stiles offered a smile but as he looked at her, he got the impression something was off. No time to puzzle over it, however, since his attention was diverted by another customer drawing up to the bar. "Oh, excuse me, Miss." It was rather futile to excuse himself to perform the duties of his employment but he did so nevertheless. Even in Rapture there was still a place for good manners. The other customer wanted a draught beer and Stiles obediently poured it and set the glass down on the counter in exchange for payment. Transaction over, he returned to the woman. Even though he didn't have to keep her company - that wasn't in his contract of employment - he felt compelled anyway. Besides, she seemed to actually be capable of holding a semi-intelligent conversation, which was a hard thing to find. "So what do you do around here, if you don't mind me asking?"
What Are Little Girls Made Of? (Bioshock AU)
"It’s not always about smooth talking. Some try too hard— I guess I just don’t get that vibe from you." She remarks thoughtfully, pursing her lips and running an idle hand through her hair. It’s a habit she’s picked up, to quench her need to just touch things. Most often, it’s directed at people, but she knows not everyone craves the intimacy like she does. And that’s very much the reason she frequents these venues, searching for some kind of closeness without getting too close. “I’ll be sure to tip nicely.”
And she can’t help but wink at him as she props her chin onto two palms, leaning heavily against the counter. His words don’t offend her, not in the slightest. She smirks in response, “Oh, believe me, I’ve heard it many times. It’s very cute that you’re concerned. I just don’t like to listen.” She scoffs and shakes her head, “I mean, what else is there for me to do, sit in my apartment like some kind of pathetic, lonely recluse?”

The saying that things only got worse before they got better was true here. Stiles' blush deepened even further when she started laughing.
"Psht. I knew that." No he didn't. "I mean, of course it was a joke. Me and Scott. Haaahhh..."
Tumblr media
"...just gonna crawl into a hole now."
“Right, well it just seems like you two had, you know, a special bond.” She smirked at his blush, chuckling. “Calm down Stiles, it was just a joke.”

"Obviously you're biased and I have somehow managed to convince you that I'm actually much smoother, wittier and all-round suave than I actually am. And one of these days, you'll probably realise your mistake but that's okay because in the meantime, I'm going to make sure we have plenty of fun." Slipping an arm around her, he pulled Hannah in for another kiss. Not on the corner of the mouth, but full on the lips this time. Why chatter about how much he missed his dad when he had a beautiful lady in front of him?
”You are, at least I think you are —- I haven’t laughed so much in ages.”  He deserved compliments and Hannah was more than happy to shower him in them. “That sounds like a good plan, I don’t mind what we watch, I just like spending time with you.” Giving his hand another gentle squeeze, she leaned up to press a kiss to the corner of his mouth. “I’m sure you miss each other a lot, I can imagine it’s difficult being away from one another. You’re making him proud though, that’s what counts.”

"Endearing, sure. We'll go with that."
Tumblr media
"Fine. I'll kill the spider. I can do this. I've faced bigger enemies. Worse enemies. It's only a spider." Deep breath, Stiles. You can do this. Rolling his shoulders and cracking his knuckles, he decides to start taking this seriously and goes to find a glass. Or... Bucket.
”In the most endearing way possible, yeah I am.”
Tumblr media
"Nah, I haven’t got the wrong guy. I’m pretty sure you’re as brave as you are hilarious, spiders just bring the worse out in everyone. Though, if you kill that spider for me now, I’ll be forever in your debt."

Stiles didn't know a whole lot about music, but he knew what he liked and he really enjoyed Kyle's playing. Working in the theatre, he was picking up on a few things, but he wouldn't be able to name any of the pieces Kyle played. How long he stood there watching, he didn't know, and if he was caught lollygagging, he'd be in trouble. But that didn't stop him, because even though he had plenty of work to be getting on with, the lure of standing there, listening, was more of a draw.
What he didn't expect was for Kyle to be the one to catch him. Or, if not catch him as such, certainly notice him. Stiles didn't know whether he should retreat back into the shadows and pretend he'd been busy all along, or take the brave move of going out and making himself known. But bravery wasn't something he possessed in abundance, if at all, and so he took the path of least resistance and took a step back.
It was a mistake for two reasons. First, he'd been sweeping prior to his impromptu break and left the brush and dustpan directly behind where he was standing. His second error was to forget and not look behind him, so when his heel caught the brush and sent it clattering to the floor, he jumped and in doing so, stepped onto the pan. It skidded under his sole and Stiles pitched backwards, arms wheeling as he fell.
The landing was painful, right on his rump. Undignified too, not to mention noisy. No chance of escaping without notice now. There was only one thing worse than being a coward and that was making a spectacle of yourself.

Washing was overrated anyway. Stiles would much rather have Malia pressed up against his body than anything else, so the washcloth was quickly ditched, dropped to the floor of the shower where it landed with a soft plop. There were better things to do with his hands, like run them up Malia's back and tug her that little big nearer.
Lips on hers, he hummed quietly at the back of his throat then sucked in a deep breath through his nose. When he pulled is mouth away from hers, he replaced it on her jaw, placing tender nips and kisses all the way up to her ear. Once there, he whispered quietly, speaking directly to her so she can hear him over the noise of the shower. "How're you feeling now?"
Night Terrors | tuusvirvespertilio | CLOSED
Malia could feel the electricity between them - hell she was pretty sure they were fueling the entire of Beacon County with it. Stiles made her skin buzz with tiny sparks of warmth wherever he dragged the cloth over and she found herself getting equally as worked up. If there was one way to chase away a night terror, it was definitely to have the boy you loved take care of you like this.
Shuffling closer till they were practically pressed against each other, Malia ignored the fact that now it became a lot more difficult to try and wash. She just wanted to be close. Her lips quirked up into a tiny smile as he kissed her, before she reciprocated.

There are times when Stiles wasn't the brightest guy in the world. A lot of things passed him by, simply because he didn't notice them. And it wasn't out of thoughtlessness or anything as seflish as that. He just had his head in the clouds. A daydream on his mind and his head in the clouds. So the fact that the woman hadn't really looked at him didn't register. Not straight away, anyway.
"Charming? I don't know about that. There are far smoother talkers than me, I'm sure." Seduction was a concept almost as foreign to him as feeling sunlight on his face. Fair to say that he's as bad at that as he is at flirting. "In all honesty, ma'am, the pay could be better, but as long as I can afford to pay the bills and have at least two square meals a day, I guess I'm happy enough." In a capitalist society, it probably wasn't wise to admit to not having a huge amount of ambition, but what opportunities were there in Rapture? Stiles' family weren't of the elite classes, he didn't have the privilege that benefited others. Comfort was all he really cared about. And survival.
"You ought to be careful. If you don't mind my saying so. Bars around here can be dangerous and..." And a woman on her own, surrounded by animalistic, drunk men could be in grave peril. Then again, she didn't strike him as the kind of woman who didn't know what she was doing. "Sorry. i'm speaking out of turn. That's really none of my business, is it?"
What Are Little Girls Made Of? (Bioshock AU)
She feels the tightness in her stomach recede, embarrassment leaving her in a relieved exhale. The end comes out as a laugh and she grins. She typically didn’t care much about embarrassing herself, outwardly. Ever the expert at putting on an air of apathy and conceit, while deep down, insecurity simmers.
Julie’s thumb rub against the glass, gaze trying to focus on the direction his voice is coming from. She feels relief, that he hasn’t noticed yet or at least hasn’t brought it up. Perhaps out of politeness or pity. The feeling combines with the satisfaction of being right. Of course she is. She’s played this game long enough to know the rules.
"Well, you’ve certainly got charming down. I hope they pay you well." It feels strange to not hear the seductive tone accompanying her words. Maybe it’s because he’s charming not in the way of men who want to get in a lady’s pants; but in a very easy going, lighthearted way. It’s something that eases her mind. "I always show up alone." One hand reaches up to brush a lock of hair behind her ear. It’s a question she gets frequently. ‘What’s a pretty thing like you doing here all alone?’ A question with a preposition laced through the words. Typically, not curiosity. "I prefer— to not leave alone. It’s difficult to find my way here sober; near impossible to get home when I’ve had a bit too many."

Probably best not to compare dating history notes, then, although they'd probably have some interesting stories to share. Wolves and coyotes made for the strangest sort of dates, in Stiles' experience. You were altogether safer with a human lover, or so he presumed. It was a little hard to tell these things when he didn't have much of a basis for comparison.
"I don't know if it's optimism so much as it's hope. Things can't always be terrible, right? If you did think that, you just wouldn't bother getting up in the morning or trying to make your life better. Without hope, I'd still be in Beacon Hills, doing some crappy menial job and settling into a life of going absolutely nowhere at all." A life which didn't appeal to him at all. "And if I was like that, then I wouldn't have met you, so that just proves that there's something good about hope."
Exhausted was putting it mildly. There wasn't a time when he'd ever worked this hard. "I'm not that good, really. The other kids in my class, man, some of them are so smart they're practically breezing through the coursework whereas I have to study all my free hours just to keep on top of things. I mean, I'm not stupid, but I'm not insanely clever either."
Well, Hannah was close enough — except her best friend was murdered by one. She’d dated a werewolf though, if that counted. Chaos was no stranger to her and it was a wonder she was still alive, for a while she could have convinced herself that she was a cat but she was pretty certain she’d had a fair few more than nine lives.
"You’re optimistic than I am." That was all she could say really, in her own experience, things had only ever gotten worse. Not that she ever really let on, though — Hannah was almost always smiling. Even if other people had it worse, it didn’t change anyone else’s situations, everyone was fighting there own battles.
"I’m glad things are working out for you — I’m sure the hard work will pay off, I can tell you’re good at what you do." For one, he seemed considerably exhausted which only meant that he was up all hour studying. Stiles also came across as kind and caring, which were traits he’d definitely need in his line of work. He was wonderful.

Was it any wonder that Stiles' old fear of Derek resurrected itself when the man could go from cordial to snarling in a matter of seconds? Had Stiles deliberately said something to rile up Derek, the display of anger could be understood and even accepted as his own fault. But when he had to watch what he said, something which didn't come particularly easily or naturally to him, then the fact that he was intimidated really shouldn't come as any sort of surprise.
It was supplanted by disappointment, however, when Derek announced that he'd had enough and walked away. For a few seconds, Stiles just stared at his back, open-mouthed and silent. This hadn't just gone a little bit wrong; it was an unmitigated disaster and the younger male was left reeling and more than a little bit saddened.
Left with a choice between going chasing after Derek or letting him leave in peace, Stiles honestly wasn't sure which to do. Derek was difficult. He was hard to read though there were times when Stiles would have staked his life on the two of them being friends, there were just as many times when he was pretty sure that Derek would punch his lights out. So what should Stiles do? Stay where he was, try to salvage his night by striking up conversation with someone else, or go after Derek and...
Tumblr media
And what? Dig an even bigger hole for himself? Inflame the man's irritation even further? Maybe there wasn't really any choice involved. His drink sat unfinished on the bar, where he'd put it down earlier, and that was where it remained as he hopped down off the bar stool and headed towards the exit himself. He wasn't going after Derek; he was going back to campus.
Derek tuned Stiles out as he kept giving more rhyming phrases. He didn’t really care if Stiles had meant it or not, His mind was somewhere else, particularly a memory where he was chained up by Kaye, torturing him and calling him sweetie with a smug smirk on her face. Derek wanted to meet whoever said the phrase: words can’t hurt you, and punch them in the face.
It was weird how after being separated for a few months, Stiles somehow managed to fear him again. He thought they had gotten past that stage seeing how Stiles had chewed Derek’s head off back in the hospital when his father had been kidnapped by Jennifer. Maybe it was brought about by adrenaline, but either way, Derek wasn’t really sure how to feel about their ‘relationship’ taking a step backwards.
He finished his second drink and placed the glass back on the bar. Things now felt and heavy between them, with neither of them talking. He fished out his wallet and paid for the drinks before turning back to Stiles. “Well, this was fun,” he said dryly. “But I think I’m gonna call it a night.” He gave Stiles a curt nod and started to walk away.

"Really? Because that'd be great. I'm genuinely interested. I mean, it's not a career move I could ever see myself making because I already know what I want to do, but it's good to hear about other walks of life, if you know what I mean?" Stiles had actually considered a career in law enforcement before finally making the decision to go to veterinary school. Follow in his father's footsteps.
Climbing into the vehicle, he pulled on his seatbelt and got himself all settled in for the ride. "Man, I can't wait for the day when I can be so blasé about money. I can't even think of a time when my dad didn't struggle to pay all the bills." Even with Stiles taking on a part-time job to try and help pay his way, things were still difficult.
"My placement is only for a few weeks and then I'll be back to uni, but even then, we can still have lunch together sometimes. If you wanted to. I have to do a few different placements, but all of them are in the area. The only time I won't be around here is when I go home for breaks. But you can text me. Or Skype me, even!" Stiles had a very simplistic way of looking at things. In that in between stage of being in the latter stages of his teens and not yet being an adult, things tended to be quite black and white for him.
"Well…I’m scarce around the office." Chris mused with a sly grin. The explanation for both this and his budding farewell to come when they were utterly alone - not his car. Years of instincts had taught him not a place could be trusted. If anything, a public restroom was safer than his own place of work… "But…I guess before I get back we can manage a talk. And since you asked so nicely, I could spare some details." But with this he chuckled, removing their hands from one another’s slowly. When at last his body returned to normalcy, he turned and trod off, bringing the younger with him.
"But don’t worry about paying me back. It’s hardly my money. While I might earn it, it’s just a stipend I get for being loyal. Hardly a difficult thing to do when you’re part of an organization like mine. Or ours, I guess I should say."
By this point, Chris had managed to weave them out of the shop, keys already in hand. The steady sound of a latch clicked once then twice and thrice. All doors unlocked, he took his perch with hands to his side, portal shut behind him with a hearty slam.
"Just how long did you say you plan on being around?" He inquired, "I’m hoping longer than just a few weeks...I think I could get used to lunch with a friend."

"Ahh, I'm not hilarious." Careful with those compliments, Hannah. "Why don't we fire up Netflix and see whatever there is. Be it cheesy or a blockbuster, I'm sure we can find something worth watching." Naked snuggling, though. He wasn't sure he'd be able to watch a movie if there was nudity involved. Safer to talk about his dad, because he could feel his stomach twisting nervously already. "Oh yeah, I'm pretty close to my dad. I miss him, y'know, but we call each other."
"Well, we can watch whatever you want, so you’ll have to choose one out of many. I’m a fan of Star Wars though, so that could work. Besides, I’m kinda more interested in the whole naked snuggling thing, anyway." She was half serious, half teasing, smiling brightly when he squeezed her hand. "Sounds like you and your dad are pretty close. We can watch old movies if you want, no promises on being as hilarious as you are though."
