ah yes, the artistry of skirting the legal line. my favourite.
on the republican side, no one thought that biden was actually staying in the running. there were countless theories about who dems would put in his place well before. biden dropping out actually gave republicans what they wanted, which was to have that poor guy not be puppetted by the party anymore and to get him out of the running to deal with every world issue that's going to be happening in the next 4 years. you can't trust the guy to stand up and have a conversation at the same time, whyyyyy would anyone advocate for him to operate our military, world trade and conflicts?
and he cannot take that "artful" credit because up until the very very last minute he refused to step down. when he announced it, it was a digital document posted to x, it happened fast, there was no plan, no artistry, no press release, no video of him making an official announcement until the day after. this was sketchy. and if he's medically incompetent to run, what makes him competent enough to be the president now? if he resigned or if the 25th amendment was pulled on him, kamala would be sitting president now. why didn't they do it that way, do you think? to control the democratic process of selecting the next nominee, no one got to choose who the dem voting option is except them. sketchy.
and you know the bigger kicker on top of all this? the dems backed him wholeheartedly until corporations stated that they would no longer fund his party in the running if he was still at the head of it. the initial huge spike in kamala's support and backing is what was being withheld from them.
I usually try to stay out of politics of a country that's not my own, but can we for a moment admire the absolute ARTISTRY of Biden's dropout move?
Like, this is the check mate move of politics. He stayed as a nominee until the last possible second so the Republicans would waste all of theit anti-campaign money on him, let them make fools of themselves in their overconfidence, with Project 2025 and fucking Vance as vice nominee, let all of the slander and bad press be atributed to him, and then dropped out and let Kamala Harris step in as the squeaky clean candidate that the Republicans had no plan for? This had to have been planned, but they kept it quiet until the last minute so it could take their opponents completely off their guard, Republicans are scrambling and every Democrat voter is suddenly motivated to get her into the seat because they know she can do even better than Biden already did.
Shah mat indeed. The Republican king is helpless. And I think that's beautiful.

say what you will but in a true democracy I'd take promotion/ endorsement of a candidate over banning the side they don't agree with which is what twitter used to be.
Twitter has made Trump2024 and MAGA hashtags unblockable & unmutable, and when you click on one your dash goes crazy with American flags.
Because Elon Musk has thrown the entire weight of his empire behind Trump.
Do you really need to be on twitter anymore? Do you?
