“Dane is wearing a silicone bald cap with a wig put over the top,” Rubano says. “He had a pointy silicone nose, silicone ears that came to a point, scleral contact lenses and goblin teeth. The suit was integrated into his flesh, so we had components of it attached to his neck and cheeks, and the the same with his exposed hand, where hardware had to look embedded into his skin. We incorporated the green color; not a cartoony green, but like a disease that gets worse and worse. We added areas of texture to the skin that we called goblin skin, which was Super Baldiez sprayed into textured molds. With Dane’s hair, bits of it have fallen out, but it comes to a peak in the back and swoops back like the purple hood did in the comic book. That was an attempt to tie in with some of the older designs.”
