Like i get that ya feel strongly about the show, but ?? Literally nobody owes u shit? U wanna write a better show? u go, babe!! But the paid writers working on it will do their job however they see fit, you have no control over the season and there is absolutely 0 use of talking about what could/should be, much less being legitimately concerned and upset about how it could go bad.

Also i am especially perplexed by the ppl who, in describing the possible ways they could ruin tua, say the writers shouldn’t “include too much fan service” ???? Hun??? Not ruining it IS fan service?? Ur literally saying “they shouldn’t do what other fans want to happen, they should do what i want to happen”

Trust me, the writers dont sit down and go “right lets ruin this show by giving ppl what they want and just writing really bad” they are doing their best and so far you have liked it, you are ruining it for yourselves by creating unrealistically high expectations and imagining countless possible things that could go wrong.

I feel like I'm somewhere in the middle on the Five x Lila I can totally see both sides of it.

On the one hand I'm like yeah kinda weird Aidan become an adult and they immediately gave him a love interest (I was never a "Five is aroace" person, like come on he made it to the apocalypse and went "all right this is my wife" not sister, not best friend. Like Reggie didn't have a wife when young five knew him, so it wasn't like he was just copying that.[anyway I'm getting to into this]), but also I just feel like a large amount of acting roles involve romantic relationships, so it's kinda expected. I don't know where I'm going with this anymore 🤦‍♀️ sorry for bugging you.

Yea, I think people see romantic relationships/sex in media as inherently cheap,less creative and even evil because for ages they've been used to objectify women (most action films that have a girl there as a sexy plant) . However, I feel like here it was done in a way that deepens and develops both their characters. Like sure, the actor is young, but it makes sense for the character, and the scenes were tame enough. Idk, i feel like there's a lotta loud anti-shippers with puritanical beliefs that just hate on any couple that isnt the picture-perfect christian family.

I already know how you feel about five x lila but what about the lack of mention/short lives to the others love interests? Sloane, Dave, Ray?

I miss my baby Sloane and really wish we got more of her, but i think the point of the ending/season is that nobody gets what they want, and all of the Hargreeves die alone (but together)

Like they all had to lose their love interests and just have each other in the end.

I dont care about Dave and Ray tho. Glad they didn't bring them back ❤️

five was an assassin in season 1 who killed countless amounts of innocent people. he had arrested development, was forced to become an assassin (ultimately by himself in another timeline) and kill people, and the only thing that kept him sane was idealizing this concept of saving his family that he barely remembers anymore

it was a coping mechanism he clung to. people even pointed out to him over the course of the show that he was an apocalypse junkie. it’s because he could fixate on that shit to keep the horrors and loneliness from setting in

he has arrested development, never got to have a life or a (real) love, he’s extremely lonely and only gets lonelier when he feels like he’s babysitting and taking care of the other hargreeves

he does not have a life

lila was the only one around him who had a similar disposition. she was drawn to the time travel, the adrenaline, the thrill. they even straight up said in the previous season she wouldn’t be cut out for domestic life.

none of this is to say that lila and five weren’t genuine. they did still love and care about their respective families. lila loved her children and five did care about saving his siblings

but it’s deeper than that 😭 they were desperately lonely people who already felt out of place because of the way they were forced to grow up. the handler raised lila in a way that left her with lingering dysfunction. five didn’t even get to have an upbringing. it’s just more nuanced than what people say it is

they were already out of place and out of time and lonely to an extent. then you add in that many years of isolation together with almost no hope of getting back left? of course they clung to each other. they already wanted to

Do you think Lila was Five’s first time? Maybe he got around a bit when he was in the commission but honestly it would make sense if Lila was his first. It would definitely explain his extreme reaction and attachment to her and their life in the subway timelines

Honestly, I dont. I always imagined the handler was his first. Either that or a hooker/random hook up, I feel like Five wouldn't want there to be something he doesn't know how to do.

My point is that five is inherently a morally grey character and has been shown to disregard his siblings' feelings many a time.Like bruh five was about to shoot Viktor in the head in s1, have we been watching the same show?

It absolutely made sense, given the context, they set up a playful relationship between Lila and Five as far back as s2 (esp with Lila making sexual jokes and five 3rd wheeling her and Diego, sharing powers, etc its a pretty classic enemies to lovers plot), and since the start of the season there have been hints that five is into her ( the "youre a good brother" talk or his reaction to findingout she needs a 'break').

And he realised pretty soon into the monster fight that he was useless, so did diego, it was very hilarious of them to fight each other lmao Don't forget that he was very cool with letting the end of the world happen even in s3, the man is tired

haven’t watched s4 of the umbrella academy but i know five and lila kissing there omg if only every tv show and book have listened to our weird ships…

okay so i spent the last few hours speed-running through this season and OH MY GOD not only did they pay attention to our weird ship, but it's like INCREDIBLE levels of fanfic!!! like, the YEARNING alone??? like, okay, the writers did the "stuck in a time bubble together" bonding/romance storyline, but what i loved about it is they planted the seeds early in the season with lila not only feeling stuck in her marriage but sneaking out and running into five and having fun with him sleuthing just like in past seasons!!! like, it's not just "we're only now seeing each other's potential because we're stuck in the subway" it's more like "we've always been kindred spirits and now we have some down time to really let that sink in". it feels like the culmination of their evolution from enemies to frenemies to friends to lovers??? like all that friction from past seasons finally coming to fruition. hell, at one point five even straight up tells her diego can't give her what she needs??? like, they're admitting they're happier together and fit better together, in and outside of the time loop!!! and i love love LOVE the writers for not doing the super tired switcheroo where, once lila returns to diego and her family she suddenly realizes the whole thing with five was a fever dream. NO!!! no no no, all the feelings are still there like AAAAH it's such good angst, because she keeps exchanging loaded and uncomfortable glances with five while diego is trying to hold her/kiss her??? and five looks SO upset??? it's ao3 levels of delicious drama!!!! diego even asks her if she loves five and she CANNOT deny it, and her whole family and kids are right there but!!!! they still have these feelings and i love how shameless the show is about it!!! one of the big subplots of the final episode is lila having to give up her family to sacrifice herself, but it's also framed as her choosing five and just sort of collapsing in his arms telling him she hates him for this??? and he says "i know"??? HELLO??? also just the yearning and pining even mid-apocalypse!!!! five can't focus on anything else except her, literally they're all about to die but their lil drama is still going on!!!! (complete with diego and five punching each other and rolling on the floor fighting over lila!!!!) it's SO good. also props to the five actor for truly LOCKING IN and just leaning so much into the yearning. every second he looks at lila it's like she hung the moon and he is dying to be with her. i JUSTTTTTTT and the fact that lila hates bracelets and she didn't wear the one diego got her for valentine's, but she wears five's???? and loves it??? and he made it out of all the scrap metal for her???? soooo many little moments like that!!! when he says "i am to please" kneeling in front of her????? when he says "you know why" when she asks him why he kept the notebook with the escape plan from her!!!!! he just wanted to be with her forever in the greenhouse timeline GAAAAAH. like, this is now gonna be my standard for "non-canonical ships that didn't seem like they could ever have a chance but became canon anyway"!!! cuz usually we clock the chemistry and the banter and the connection but we have to make do with our lil AUs because we know the writers wouldn't dare. but they did!!! they did it this time!!! GOD BLESS i feel so validated in this chili's tonight!!!
