If you can’t shake a bad mood after a fight, remembering only the sensory details of the event can help you get over it. When you recall where you were during a stressful situation, as well as the sequence of events, tone of your voice, exact words used, and how you could have handled it differently, you can improve your ability to solve problems and recover more quickly than if you dwell on what it meant, how it felt, and the emotions it caused. Bugs - Mr Robot
Debugging’s actually all about finding the bug, about understanding why the bug was there to begin with, about knowing that its existence was no accident. It came to you to deliver a message, like an unconscious bubble floating to the surface, popping with a revelation you’ve secretly known all along.
A bug is never just a mistake. It represents something bigger. An error of thinking. That makes you who you are.
This the world we live in. People relying on each other’s mistakes to manipulate one another and use one another, even relate to one another. A warm, messy circle of humanity. That’s the only way to protect myself. Never show them my source code. Close myself off. Create my cold, perfect maze where no one can ever find me. Bugs usually get a bad rap. But sometimes… When a bug finally makes itself known, it can be exhilarating, like you just unlocked something. grand opportunity waiting to be taken advantage of. Because, after all, a bug’s only purpose, it’s only reason for existence is to be a mistake that needs fixing, to help you right a wrong. And what feels better than that?
The bug forces the software to adapt, evolve into something new because of it. Work around it or work through it. No matter what, it changes. It becomes something new. The next version. The inevitable upgrade.
And… I’m a bug. I’m your bug.

La La Land is irresitible movie magic
Tumblr media
Jazz is dying. That’s what Damien Chazelle declared in Whiplash, a whip-smart, crash-bang-wallop of a movie that jumped around the screen with the energy of its soundtrack. It’s a sentiment that crops up again in La La Land, Chazelle’s ambitious, incredible follow-up. Daring to go much bigger than his debut, La La Land is an old-school musical in the best possible way, full of tap-dancing, a longing for fame and a yearning for the golden days of cinema.
Emma Stone pops as Mia, an aspiring actress stuck working as a waitress, while Ryan Gosling shimmers (and shimmies) as a struggling jazz pianist. Together, they’re so electric that you suspect Elon Musk had a hand in the screenplay – and it’s their falling-in-and-out romance that underpins the whole show, their failings of the heart echoing their professional flops. (It’s subtly ironic that their most beautiful moment at Griffith Observatory only occurs because it’s copied from the big screen.)
Whiplash was all about getting the right timing. La La Land is all about two people whose lives are always out of sync. A flashback montage of their memories together is as magnificent as anything 1940s Hollywood could dream of – not just a masterful piece of editing, floating through sets and scenery like magic, but a demonstration of how well Chazelle understands the emotional power of music. He ricochets between notes with endless verve, before diving into melancholic solos with blue lighting and pink hues.
Justin Hurwitz burst onto the stage with Whiplash’s score and confirms himself here as one of film music’s great new talents, with nostalgic but new songs, which recall the wit of 2012’s self-aware showbiz musical How Do You Write a Joe Schermann Song?. But it’s together that their work really sings – witness, open-mouthed, the six-minute single-take opener, with every car in sight in a traffic jam turned into dancing props. The duo have a clear passion for improvising trumpets, sweet saxophones and big band numbers, an underlying love that turns this and Whiplash into feature-length music videos in their own right. Chazelle’s scripts may claim jazz is dying, but he’s bringing it back into fashion with irresistible style.

Samsung reveals the battery of the future — and it probably won’t explode
Samsung SDI debuted a “next generation” battery for electronic vehicles at the 2017 North American International Auto Show in Detroit on Monday.
The high-density battery features fast charging capabilities — it can charge to 80% capacity in 20 minutes — and the ability to drive 373 miles on a full charge.
The fast-charging technology behind the battery, which is scheduled for mass production in 2021, can give drivers of autonomous vehicles a larger driving range.
“With a 20-minute charge, you can have a driving range of up to 500 km [310 miles], which is 80% of the capacity,” Samsung SDI said in a press release.
“This means that only 20 minutes in the highway rest area will be enough for a battery to be charged, eliminating the range anxiety of EV drivers.” Read more

All of the people in the world should have to stop and see the amazing northern lights, to help remind them of how special our earth is and how beautiful the cosmos are.
Maybe then people wouldn’t be so mean to each other…

Sarah Daher - Air Culture
Daher’s conceptual Air Culture lab uses inputs such as changing light, temperature, humidity and water to encourage plants to release specific compounds into the surrounding environment.
“Air Culture is an interdisciplinary project in between design and science; technology and nature,” said Daher. “It is a starting point to question the value of air, and propose a more amplified vision of plants in a future scenario where their volatile emissions become part of our daily lives.”
She suggests that the air could be “enriched” with these chemicals, which have a positive impact on both physical and psychological wellbeing, depending on the species used.
The lab comprises a glass plant chamber, water pump and air pump, used to control the conditions surrounding the flora. The chamber is designed to harvest the air so it can be siphoned off and shared with people in bags.

I feel the sensation. Fight or flight. It’s constant. I should just pick one.
I, Elliot Alderson, am flight. I am fear. I am anxiety, terror, panic.
