Masashi Kishimoto Naruto Art Book (part-6)

This is a piece where I was able to really show Naruto's personality in his pose and expression. I'm super pleased that I managed to draw something truly Narutoesque. The tension in the arrangement of Kakashi and Obito is also great. It isn't often that the entire composition works this well, so it's my favorite.

It was fun drawing all of them as kids. I really like the contrast of adult Obito and child Obito facing different directions, indicating that his path and focus changed.

I like this one a lot, because you can really feel Nine Tails' immense size and Naruto's mischievousness. I had fun drawing it because of the visual gimmick. I had forgotten that if you look closely, you can see Kakashi, Sakura and Sai.

Enough people told me this was good that I started thinking so myself... Yeah. (LOL) But it was nice to illustrate a scene of family life, particularly because I didn't have many opportunities to draw something like that.

I thought that Naruto was still too young to wear banana hammocks, so I ended up with this. When I actually tried to draw it, it creeped me out. Making Sakura wear a bikini was kind of embarrassing, so I opted for the shorts for her too.

This picture of Sasuke appeared as part of a composition for a Shonen Jump front cover alongside images of Naruto and Gaara. Due to space considerations, I ended up drawing Sasuke in a long, vertical pose. One problem here was whether or not the sword Sasuke's holding would fit in the scabbard--- I remember I had to carefully measure the length of both the sword and the scabbard. Also, the picture appeared somewhat plain alter coloring it, so I made Sasuke's sash red. Because of that detail, this may be a pretty rare picture of Sasuke.

Cherry blossoms in full bloom...it's springtime in Kanohagakure. My concept for this picture was the characters having a cherry blossom viewing party, so I gave them some objects to suggest that. Naruto has a drinking cup, Sasuke has a Japanese musical instrument, and Sakura has a bento box containing rice dumplings and other foods. Fun, lots of fun. Kakashi was...actually kind of a distraction in this one. But I felt bad for him and decided to leave him in (laugh). And I showed that there's a breeze by drawing the cherry blossom petals as if they are being blown. It feels good when I can make the wind blow in a picture.

I wanted to keep this picture looking like a pencil sketch. I lightly colored in the already fully shaded pencil drawing, I tested out a method of using two similar colors for each character's hair, skin and clothes, and another similar-toned pair of colors for the background. I tried to make the picture look three-dimensional by changing the level of contrast in these colors. I made one large mistake though I forgot to draw Ino's earrings (laugh).

Team Asuma was the main focus in this volume. It makes Naruto look like a side character...

Sasuke is my friend. Our important/precious/valuable bond is the one I finally got.

"Yatto" means something like "at the end, at last, eventually, finally." usually you say やっと when you achieve your goals or you finish doing something after putting in a lot of effort or waiting a long time. やっと emphasis on a long time process.

[[ やっと also translates as barely. For example: この退屈な講義中に起きているのがやっとです。= kono taikutsuna kōgichū ni okiteiru no ga yatto desu. = I can barely stay awake during this boring lecture. ]]

やっと focuses on the fact it took TIME to achieve the goal, so you can only use it when you've accomplished something.

Also, やっと implies that you waited for a long time/ longer than expected for something to occur/come that you got a little tired of waiting. It implies your negative feeling about how long it took.

e. g:

1. 3時間経って、やっと彼は現れた

3 jikan tatte, yatto kare wa arawareta

He finally showed up after 3 hours.

2. やっと届いた！

yatto todoita!

finally arrived! (you've been waiting for it so long).

It means that something you have been waiting for has finally arrived. (=It took a long time to arrive.)

3. やっとラーメンが食べれるよ…. (Frustrated)

yatto ra-men ga tabereru yo...

We’ve been waiting and now we can (finally) eat ramen….

• やっと is used in Positive (feeling happy) sentence

e. g:

1. 試験やっとやっとやっと終わった！！！超幸せ！！！

shiken ya to yatto yatto owatta!!! chō shiawase!!!

the test is finallyyy over. I'm so happy

2. やっと会えた! とて も嬉しい

yatto aeta ! tote mo ureshii

I'm happy we were finally able to meet!

3. やっとあなたと写真撮れて嬉しかった

• やっと mainly implies that you are relieved after finishing something big.

Yatto is often used to express a sense of relief or happiness after finally achieving something or after a long wait. It conveys a feeling of accomplishment or satisfaction.

e. g:

やっと合格した = yatto gokaku shita = I finally passed. In this context, やっと emphasizes the sense of relief and happiness that comes with achieving the desired outcome after a period of effort or waiting.

「やっと」 is often used in situations where there was a sense of anticipation or difficulty leading up to the moment being described. It conveys a sense of relief or satisfaction that something has finally happened after a period of waiting or effort.

• 「やっと」 is typically used when something that you are waiting for happens. And it is often used to refer to things you've long wanted to get or achieve Or it implies that a person has been waiting, and waiting for a long, long time for something.

• Other words that are used in Japanese with the same meaning of yatto: “とうと う = toutou”, “ついに = tsuini”, “ようやく= yōyaku”. When you use this word yatto, it includes the nuance of "finally managed to do something after a long time," or "Finally accomplished although it was difficult," or " wanted to get it but wasn’t able to until now.."

However, what Naruto is saying is connected with "I finally got it" ⇔ "I wanted it but I wasn't able to get it until now" ⇔ "I searched for it for a long time (I couldn't get it during that time, but now I have it)". Therefore, "Yatto" is not used in contexts like : "something you searched for a short time = something you can get right away"... Because やっと is used as like "finally".

Someone in the comments of my own fic asked for NaruSasu recs, so I thought I'd also make a post compiling my absolute favourites here! I've been so fortunate with the response to my work on AO3 so I hope this is a nice way to share the love around:

It's funny, it's got lots of pinning, it's got feels, it's got Naruto figuring out his sexuality in the most typically Naruto way, basically it's got IT ALL. And the writing is amazing. It was the fic that inspired me to get on the website and post my own work.

Tears don't fall by GODZILLA90095 (again bcs they rule). Part 1 of the series A different way but just as good. Modern AU. It's kind of a Naruto and Sasuke get a second chance in their 30s after a huge break-up. Naruto has kids with Hinata, but he's gay. It's heartbreaking, raw, real, beautiful.... fuckkkk read it!!!

The Symposium series by candlewix. Told from the perspective of ace!Kakashi. We see Naruto and Sasuke's love story across the years from his eyes. No one, I mean NO ONE, is as funny as this author. The way they write Kakashi's POV is hilarious, but so well balanced by the profound and beautiful descriptions the author writes about what Nart and Sake mean to each other. ugh.

We Deserved a Better Ending My Love by narutophobia. Reencarnation babyyy! Naruto and Sasuke in modern times, but everything that was in canon was real just reaaally long ago. Naruto remembers, searches for Sasuke (who doesnt remember!!). SHENANIGANS ensue. Beautiful love story and such an interesting take on things.

love like this is forever by moonplums.  Part 1 of the series forever. It's set in Boruto era/world - I am not usually into that tbh, it gives me anxiety to think about Sasuke and Naruto not getting together after the war BUT this series does it quite nicely, kind of like they have their awakening later in life and it's very cute how they have a family with the kids. Sarada's POV. Worth reading for sure!

when it all comes together, there's just you by kintou.  It's short fragments of both Naruto and Sasuke discovering their sexualities across the years, with and without each other. Super cute and interesting, and smutty! I love the concept. (author is @ao3-kintou on tumblr!)

What makes the Sasuke & Naruto relationship stand out to me is the *romantic* or emotional tension.

It’s revealed only towards the very end that Sasuke admired Naruto’s warmth, cheerfulness, and emotional strength ever since they were kids, even as strangers, how he could stay positive and build lasting bonds with others despite the hardships he endured. But Sasuke couldn’t approach him, because he saw it as a weakness, being conditioned by his trauma to think this way.

He was shaken to the core how Naruto wouldn’t let him be alone, and never went against him like everyone else eventually did, instead tried to understand him.

And then it turns out Naruto just can’t stand the thought of Sasuke going though more suffering on his lonely path, it hurts HIM when Sasuke hurts. ?????!!!!! Bitch what the fuck. What. The. Fuck. Underneath the layers of Naruto being jealous of Sasuke, seeing him as a rival someone to measure up to and aspire to be like, feelings of genuine friendship and camaraderie, is… THAT.
