“Demolision! Wiping all out! I won’t go until it’s over!”a

Mementos. It was a world in-between worlds, it wasn’t like the waking world but it also didn’t quite resemble the palaces. The subway station, once bustling with life and its dull grey tones shifted. Faded reds and blacks colored the surroundings, veins sprawling across the walls and almost pulsating, as if there was more to this world than she had any hope of knowing about.

Digits clenched her spear in one hand, twirling it in the darkness before finding its resting stance propped over her shoulder, the cold hilt barely grazing her neck. Crimson orbs shifted behind their mask─ a mixture of reds and oranges all brought together by gold accents, the mask outstretched to her forehead, masking both eyebrows and one of her cheeks, but leaving the other eye free from constriction.

The woman moved forward through the darkness, hugging corners in attempt to sneak up on the shadows that wander. It was much more of a pain to fight them head-on, especially with no backup. Yes! Her brain exclaimed, a shadow with a searing red gaze stomped against the train tracks, though she couldn’t get a good enough look without triggering it. Just turn around, come on. Lips pulled together in annoyance, each glance finding the creature standing perfectly still.

If it had been any other shadow she might have just left it, but one this tough? Her Personas could use that experience, it would be too beneficial to pass up. So she had no choice but to grasp her weapon, slowly revealing herself from the corner that had concealed her. However, the shadow seemed to be far too occupied with an area to its left, completely ignoring the woman as she moved closer. When she finally got close enough to take a swing, it took off sprinting in the other direction, knocking Minako back onto the tracks with a crash.

It only took a few seconds for her to regain composure, rubbing her backside in hopes to reduce the pain. What was that? She had never seen an enemy ignore her so blatantly... unless... unless there was someone else catching its attention. Someone else? That was crazy─ it had been weeks since she first summoned her Persona and not once had she seen anyone else in the Metaverse. Still, curiosity drove her to sprint after the monster.

Luckily, it hadn’t made it far, and wasn’t too difficult to keep up with as it weaved from corridor to corridor. Whatever it was that had caught its ire, it must have been powerful to trigger his senses from this far away.

the toyko subway system was crowded and noisy and hot, almost insufferably so today. the grossness of humid day and heatwave clung to shiho, like the world’s least wanted intangible blanket. stepping off at her normal detour, she sequestered herself in a slightly less crowded area of the station and checking through her phone- not getting any signal, but did check the time. she’d have more than enough time to kill.

when the sensation hit her, it hit hard. she snapped her eyes closed on reflex, squinting so hard she saw stars behind her eyelids. a horrible feeling of weightlessness, then sinking cold. ( she was walking on air. ) when she opened them, she was in the subway station, but an empty one. the even sound of the subways were still. shiho turned around in a slow circle, taking in the sights. wind roared past her ears, and the whole place looked and felt…. wrong.

“ what. the. hell. ” she turned in a circle again around again. at least here, talking to herself wouldn’t get her weird looks. “ this… can’t be real. ”

HOUSE OF MEMORIES .

��Shiho-san, can I let you in on a secret?” The woman’s tone remained soft as she slowly reached out to rest a hand on her friend’s shoulder. “We’re all afraid. From you, me, the president of the biggest bank in the world─ everybody is terrified. It’s what you do with that fear. Do you let it consume you? Or do you use it as strength.”

It was a rhetorical question, one that Minako already held the answer to. Shiho was one of the strongest individuals she’d ever met, even if that part of her sometimes got buried behind other parts. If anyone in the world could channel their worst emotions into something good, it was her.
