Fireworks dramatically increase the particulate matter concentration, especially on New Year's Eve.

Furthermore the Fireworks fine dust particles accelerate the formation of Smog as condensation nuclei. Add temperature inversion to this: during an inversion, warmer air is held above cooler air, the normal temperature profile with altitude is inverted.

When there is a temperature inversion in the Inn Valley, the inversion traps air pollution, such as smog, close to the ground.

In the Tyrolean Inn Valley, Fireworks Smog trapped by Inversion became evident from 0:00 on January 1st, 2020, and was captured by the DSLR webcam of the Innsbruck Seegrube. The Fireworks Smog from 00:30 in the Valley was intense.

The same day later, I was on a evening Winter Bike Tour on the Innsbruck Patscherkofel with great views to the Inn Valley, and shot a few images there.

After returning from the Bikeride, I grabbed my DSLR Camera gear, rushed to the Villages Ampass and Tulfes and shot some time-lapse and stills photos with a view of the Inn Valley. Later that Night the Smog finally receeded, but left a haze.
