For this project, I created an illustration to license as a graphic. I made this as part of a larger series of graphics for geological locations only in the Americas. The Americans, because that’s particularly what matters to me. In total, I will have 20 graphics, so these will be places that personally resonate with me, and in that way, it’s an expression of myself. The stylistic nature of the design is a style I’ve created over the years I have been drawing digitally and is based on now-old illustrative techniques.

I try to incorporate beautiful features specific to every region. I like poses that remind me of pin-up art I used to see; that’s another inspiration. The colors I used for the Key West piece really felt to me like the colors under a blinding yellowish white sunny sky, like they felt when I was there.

The tools I used to create this were a drawing tablet, paper, and pencil. I used a variety of different sketches, combining them. The program I used to draw and color was Adobe Illustrator.
