Genuine question: Why do you believe Glitch Productions is overworking and underpaying their employees? Is there a source for this? I don't see where the animosity is coming from.

It's not a matter of overworking and underpaying.

It's that the potential for this series is straight up being held hostage by a studio who does not care about anything other than finding a golden goose.

I've been in digital media for pretty much my entire career, and I can tell you with great confidence that that much advertising and hype doesn't out of nowhere, and it doesn't happen with no budget. That much merch wasn't just available by chance day 1. And the fact that they're gauging the potential of the project solely on merch sales and not by audience engagement and response is extraordinarily telling.

The Amazing Digital Circus is a GI-Joe commercial to sell action figures, and I'm really sick of people talking about it like it's just a cute little indie project with a lot of heart. Because that's part of the marketing.

It feels a little mean spirited to imply that TADC is some sort of soulless corporate money printer when just a look at Gooseworx's social media shows how much of a passion project it has been for her. And really how different is selling merch from setting up a kickstarter? At least with merch you get something if the funding fails. A lot of what you've been saying kinda rings like someone jealous of another creator's success.

Firstly, I'm not a creator in any professional capacity anymore. I haven't been for a year, and I don't miss it.

Second, my criticism is not on Gooseworx at all. I think Gooseworx had a fun idea for a show and made a pretty good pilot. That's why I'm pretty much exclusively criticizing the business practices of the studio, its lack of transparency, and the annoying narrative it's creating while also trying to foster a fandom so they can make money longterm.

I would not give a single shit if there was a kickstarter. I would not be making these posts if they made a kickstarter.

They have no "goal" set to where they'll definitely make the show after 10,000 plush sales, or 50,000 shirt sales.

They "encouraged" their fans to buy merch to "help greenlight" a full season. That's not transparent. That's not a goal.

That's saying "maybe, if we like how wide you open your wallet".

Not to be deep over a video game that was released yesterday in the USA and a few days ago in Japan but there's something so feel good and sweet about getting a Lookit in online mode from another player.
