Dubai will hosts first edition of “Restaurants, Cafés & Lounges” in October The first edition of “Restaurants Cafés & Lounges” Conference and Exhibition will be held on the 7th & 8th of October 2019, at Roda Al Bustan Hotel. The first of its kind event in the region is organized by Great Minds Event Management, with the goal of gathering a selected group of F&B and hospitality experts, to discuss improving efficiency and delivering an improved holistic experience to cater to the rapidly changing consumer behavior in the F&B sector, and to help restaurants, cafés, and lounge owners and F&B stakeholders to discover the latest strategies that can drive innovation across all business functions to survive and grow in an ever changing business environment. Leila Masinaei, The Managing Partner of Great Minds Event Management said: “We are organizing Restaurants Cafés & Lounges to bring together all the stakeholders who are involved in creating business models from menu selections, growth strategies, location mapping, to technology implementation, from across the Middle East & North Africa”. “The number of F&B outlets in the region, with new concepts popping up daily, while the existing restaurants, cafés and lounges are actively scouting for new strategic locations to expand their business. However, we noticed in the last few years, the F&B sector has been struggling to catch up with the rapidly changing consumer trends, behavior and habits. Technology disrupting the market greatly and the economy’s effect on consumer’s spending patterns have made many previously successful businesses obsolete, losing their business and customers to raising competition. We saw the necessity to invite top experts and stakeholders to brainstorm new strategies to cope with the ever-changing consumer behavior and maximize the gains from technological advancements”, Masinaei added. Arvind Shekar, the Event’s Director, said “More than 250 attendees from 25 countries, mostly business owners, operation heads, chefs and experts in the F&B industry and hospitality sector will discuss the latest consumer trends, and growth strategies in the MENA market, and share their experiences and ideas du https://www.instagram.com/p/By04M2SAlxA/?igshid=zwnc5j81p7g8

American tourists found dead in Dominican Republic hotel An American couple from Prince George’s County in Maryland vacationing in the Dominican Republic were found dead in their hotel room. According to police, the bodies of Edward Nathael Holmes (63) and Cynthis Ann Day (49) were found at the Playa Nueva Romana resort in San Pedro de Macrois. The couple had arrived just a few days prior on Saturday, May 25, and were due to check out from the hotel on Thursday, May 30. When they missed their check-out time, hotel staff entered the room after nobody answered the door and found both unresponsive. The staff then notified authorities. Although their bodies did not show any signs of violence, their deaths were considered suspicious, because Holmes had complained of a pain on Thursday, but when a doctor arrived to check on him, he refused to be seen by the practitioner. Authorities said there were several bottles of medicine used to treat high blood pressure in the couple’s room, but no other drugs were found. The cause of death was determined by autopsies performed at the Regional Institute of Forensic Sciences, police said. It has so far been determined that the couple died of respiratory failure and pulmonary edema. It is not yet known how both the man and woman had died at the same time. Officials are awaiting on results of toxicology and histopathology tests. “We offer our sincerest condolences to the family on their loss,” a U.S. Department of State official said. “We are in close contact with local authorities regarding their investigation into the cause of death. We stand ready to provide all appropriate consular assistance. The U.S. Department of State and our embassies and consulates abroad have no greater responsibility than the protection of U.S. citizens overseas. Out of respect to the family during this difficult time, we have no further comment.” The hotel said in a statement that it is “deeply saddened by the incident.” At another hotel in the Dominican Republic, five days prior on May 25, a Pennsylvania woman, Miranda Schaup-Werner (41), a psychotherapist from Allentown, Pennsylvania, who was vacationing with her husband died suddenly in h https://www.instagram.com/p/ByVekIkg461/?igshid=1hwv88lphx5oi

Boeing 737 jets face new safety warning amid Max scandal Over 310 Boeing 737 jets contain 148 potentially defective parts and may need to be replaced, the Federal Aviation Administration said on Sunday, a safety warning that comes as the Chicago-based manufacturer continues to work to try to lift an international grounding of its recent update to the fleet. “The affected parts may be susceptible to premature failure or cracks resulting from the improper manufacturing process,” the FAA said in a statement. The issues, which the agency indicated do not pose an immediate threat, must be fixed within 10 days of a forthcoming directive from the regulator. In a statement, Boeing said “it has not been informed of any in-service issues” related to the equipment. We are committed to supporting our customers in every way possible as they identify and replace these potentially non-conforming tracks,” said Kevin McAllister, CEO of the company’s commercial airplane division. https://www.instagram.com/p/ByQLFrPg3hX/?igshid=14xzdx3gderou

Police escort family off Thomas Cook flight after abuse claims
Police have escorted a family off a Thomas Cook flight following concerns of child abuse.
Armed officers, along with social services, escorted a mum, dad and young children from the aircraft at Manchester airport.
The family, from Liverpool, had been on a two-week holiday at the Atlantique Holiday Club resort in Turkey, according to a report in the Liverpool Echo.
However, after concerns were raised over the children’s welfare, their holiday was cut short and the family was booked on an earlier flight home.
During the trip, Cook moved the family to another hotel and placed the father in a separate room from his wife and children.
Cook staff were stationed outside the rooms as a precautionary measure.
The Echo said concerns had been raised by guests and staff.
One claimed a child was hit at the back of the head and another said a child was dunked in the pool by their feet.
A spokeswoman for Cook said: “We have a duty of care to all of our customers, and have clear policies in place, including a child protection policy, which we will not hesitate to act upon to ensure the wellbeing of our customers and colleagues.”
Merseyside Police confirmed Greater Manchester Police were involved in escorting a family off a Cook flight.
