I will not celebrate the cold blooded killing of the UHC CEO despite my feelings on the heinous actions of "healthcare" companies.

It was murder and it seemed premeditated. If vigilantism is the path we are going to start down, most will not like the journey they undertake.

We need healthcare reform among many other things for the greater good.

Murder is not what we need.

You Have Privilege

Privilege is a word tossed around like leaves on the wind. Where the word lands is anyone's guess. Where the word lands is nearly as annoying as where the leaves land.

Ironically, the word privilege, like most ideologies in the age of supposed "social justice", has become bastardized and nearly always misused.

There's a hard truth that many in the Western world refuse to accept and/or acknowledge; we all have privilege.

If you have a roof over your head, you have privilege.

If you have a warm bed to sleep in, you have privilege.

If you have food in your cupboard and refrigerator, you have privilege.

If you are reading this on a laptop, desktop, or hand held device of any kind, you have privilege.

If you get your hair and nails done, privilege.

New shoes, new clothes, new bag, privilege.

If you buy tickets to a show, privilege.

If you crowdfund for any reason, privilege.

If you protest, privilege.

The list could go on. The point is that we in the West, regardless of our economic status, want for nothing. We have the freedom and ability to improve our lives in some way, shape, or form.

Of course there are struggles. There will always be a struggle of some sort. Again, we in the West have the freedom and ability to overcome such struggle.

Perhaps one of most heinous and ignorant forms of privilege comes from how we pick and choose which "cause" to defend.

In the age of social media, the moment we find something aligns with our "beliefs" or "feelings", we jump on the bandwagon of our next movement. We do so with little regard to fact or truth.

Even worse than blindly following the "cause du jour", is co-opting said cause then twisting it to fit our aforementioned "feelings" and claiming it for our own. As if some crisis happening half a world away is somehow affecting our day to day life.

That's exactly what's happening right now all over the Western world. Many people have co-opted the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and somehow twisted to fit a narrative that either doesn't exist or has a tenuous existence at best.

The idea that a local Arab business is funding terrorism or that a local Jewish business is funding genocide is simply ignorant. It speaks to how uninformed and uneducated people are with regards to the daily life of a simple Arab or Jewish man running a business.

Yet here we are. Privileged liberals all over the country have co-opted the horror that Palestinians are facing every minute of every day to turn against Jewish people and establishments. Their vitriol is not only ignorant, but it's blatantly racist.

There's an old saying that applies here; two wrongs don't make it right.

We can decry the atrocities the IDF and Israeli government are doing to the Palestinians without hatred towards Jewish people.

We can decry the atrocities that Hamas and it's network of supporters are doing to Jews without hatred towards Palestinians or Arabs.

Propaganda is being spewed from both sides. That propaganda is feeding into our lives. But it shows just how privileged we are. That we can intake the propaganda, twist it, and use to fit some narrative to "tear down" the other side.

Our privilege could be our undoing if we don't check it. And that goes for every person.
